Hey Glamazons! Soooo as you guys know, I’m obsessed with my skin. Actually, I think that obsessed doesn’t even begin to describe the love affair that I have with the idea of keeping my skin healthy, glowing and radiant. I will slather on alllll the retinol, apply allllll the eye cream and use every single mask available. It’s a problem, I know. But, a good one if you ask me, because everyone loves great skin. Right?! Side note: I know that last statement may be coming across as extremely narcissistic, but it’s true. Also, I’m not really a narcissist, just a healthyskinobsessist. That should totally be a word, BTW.
The big glowing, radiant skincare news for today is the awesome Dr. Gross Age Defying Solutions that you can get exclusively Friday (1/9) on QVC and QVC.com. The package (which retails for $129.96) contains 3 products that help to reduce the visible signs of aging. Lucky me, I was able to get my hands on it early and I’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks. Here’s how it works:
STEP 1: Use the peel.
What It Is -> The Alpha Beta Peel is available in Original Formula for sensitive/and or first-time peel users or Extra Strength for normal to less sensitive skin. This two-step delivery system works to smooth and improve the skin texture which leads to a brighter and healthier looking appearance. Overall, the peel works to exfoliate and removes dead skin cells. There are two containers of product soaked pads: one labeled STEP 1 and another labeled STEP 2. STEP 1 is the Alpha Beta Refining and contains the below ingredients:
Glycolic Acid – Reduces visible signs of aging
Lactic Acid – Promotes cell renewal; fights wrinkles while exfoliating and moisturizing
Malic Acid – Promotes cell renewal; fights wrinkles while exfoliating and moisturizing
Citric Acid – Helps speed up cell turnover/cell renewal
Salicylic Acid – Helps lift and remove the blackhead or waxy plug that is clogging the pore
Genistein – Stimulates collagen production and diminishes its breakdown
Chamomilla Recutita – Soothes and calms irritation
Green Tea Extract – Natural antioxidant; may reverse sun damage
STEP 2 is the Enriched Neutralizing System and contains the below ingredients:
Retinol – Proven anti-aging effects on skin
Green Tea Extract – Natural antioxidant; may reverse sun damage
Phospholipids – Natural substance that draws moisture from the air and seals it into the skin
Sodium Bicarbonate – Neutralizes acids
Vitamins A, C, E – Potent antioxidants that prevent collagen breakdown
Genistein – Stimulates collagen production and diminishes its breakdown
Yarrow Extract – Natural toner and anti-inflammatory
Ubiquinone – Powerful antioxidant that neutralizes harmful free radicals
Resveratrol – Grape-seed Polyphenol that protects skin from premature aging
How It Felt -> The funny part about this is that I thought that I would literally have to peel the formula off of my face after I applied it! I was prepared for something messy and this was just not the case with the peeling pads. I used the one for sensitive/and or first-time peel users because I wasn’t too sure of how my skin was going to react to it. I will admit that upon first use, it did sting a little bit. So, I fanned my face with my hands and then it was ok. There was no redness or irritation present after I used both sets of the pads. By the second week, there was no stinging sensation at all!
STEP 2: Apply the Ferulic + Retinol Brightening Solution.
What It Is -> The Ferulic + Retinol Brighetning Solution combines Retinol with Ferulic Acid to help reduce the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, wrinkles and pores while instantly illuminating and exfoliating the complexion. It helps to fade dark spots resulting from sun exposure, hyperpigmentation and blemish marks.
How It Felt -> I waited about two minutes after using the Alpha Beta Peel before applying this. After gently rubbing into my skin, I noticed that it went directly into my pores and there was no greasy or slimy/weird feel.
STEP 3: Apply the Ferulic + Retinol Anti-Aging Moisturizer.
What It Is -> This hydrating moisturizer contains Ferulic Acid + Retinol (much like the Brightening Solution) as well as the ECG (or Elastin Collagen Growth) Complex that works to firm and strengthen skin. It also promises to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles at the surface level and beyond.
How It Felt -> I applied this much like I would do any face moisturizer. Afterwards, I noticed that my skin felt super soft and very hydrated, which I did like!
I have been using this entire system for about two weeks now and I have noticed that my skin is a lot clearer (no blackheads, pimples or blemishes have formed) and it looks more radiant. The Beauty Director over at xovain.com Anne-Marie even commented on how glowy my skin looked when she saw me at a recent event! I would highly recommend this to anyone (especially those looking to fight lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation).
