Glamazons,
I am always on the go, especially around the holidays, so I rarely have the time to dedicate hours to a hairstyle. I need something that I can do quickly (with minimal amount of effort) that still looks fabulous. Cutting down on time has been a struggle since I’ve went natural so I’ve been relying on protective styles from extensions to braids. But sometimes, a girl just wants to play with her own hair!
Enter Design Essentials. The brand prides itself on cutting down natural hair prep time, which is exactly what I need!
I gave their products a spin before a holiday party coming up tonight to see if they’ll live up to the hype.
First, I lathered up with Design Essentials Natural Curl Cleanser, which I was pleased to discover has peppermint and rose hip oil as well as soy bean extract and green tea.
I washed my hair and it definitely felt moisturized afterwards but not sticky (I hate that!).
I then used Design Essentials Moisturizing Conditioner which boasts jojoba and sweet almond oil.
Pretty thick, right? I left it in for a couple of minutes and started detangling. Let me tell you, detangling was significantly easier than normal with Design Essentials Moisturizing Conditioner. I DREAD detangling but my hair was softer and the process was faster. Thank God!
And my curls loved that conditioner. They were so defined and springy!
Next, I twisted my hair using Design Essentials Natural Twist and Set setting lotion, pinned it into bantu knots and crashed at like 1AM. In the morning (when I woke up at 7AM), my hair was completely dry. This is a miracle because bantu knots take notoriously long too dry and typically, my roots are still wet the next morning. The quick drying time is truly amazing!
I love updos for holiday parties so I pinned my curls up and added the same Colette Malouf headband I wore to the Met Gala. It’s my favorite Carrie Bradshaw-esque holiday hair accessory.
I’m so happy with how my hair came out! Want to give Design Essentials a try? Shop here:
