Glamazons,
A crochet braid craze is currently taking over the world. OK, well, just the world of women looking for no-frill protective styling. Glamazon Jessica tried the look two years ago when she went to the Dominican Republic (thanks Bri!) and was really amazed at how fuss-free the process is. She’s not alone in her sentiments. In fact, the ease of crochet braids might make you wonder: Where was this when you were paying exorbitant amounts of money and sitting for hours for sewn-in weaves? Le sigh. Anyway, crochet braids are here to stay and here’s a cheat sheet for nailing the style.

Tools You’ll Need:
-Brush
-Comb
-Moisturizer
-Crochet needle with a latch
-Depending on the size of your head and volume you want 3-5 packs of hair

How To:
Step 1: Moisturize and then cornrow your hair. Add Kanekalon braiding hair if you need to fill out your hair or keep tension off of it.
Step 2: Insert the latch hook under the cornrow braid.
Step 3: Loop your extension on the hook and secure it.
Step 4: Pull your looped hair extension back under the cornrow using the hook.
Step 5: Create a knot to fasten the extension to the hair.

Some things to keep in mind:
-Some people use a crochet needle or a bobby pin. A crochet needle with a latch is ideal because it slides smoothly under your cornrows. A bobby pin could snag your hair and cause breakage.
-Use a textured brand of hair. Afro or Marley textured Kanekalon or human hair are ideal for security and hold. If the hair’s too silky you run the risk of the hair unraveling from the braids and falling out.
-Crochet Braiding or Crotchet Weaving is the process of attaching pieces of hair extensions to existing cornrows. It is a great protective style because it does not put too much stress on your hair. Installing the braids is very simple and the removal process is quite easy. All you do is just untie the extension that is attached to the cornrow.
