Boston Strong: Adidas Releases ‘Boston Tribute Tee,’ Proceeds Go To One Fund Boston

Glamazons,

Sometimes the most horrible, tragic, unimaginable crime can reveal the true strength of a city and a nation. That happened when Boston faced the unthinkable: a bombing at the end of a marathon that left 2 dead and over 100 injured.

The Boston Police Department, the FBI, first responders and volunteers all rallied together to apprehend the two suspects (one, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed after a chaotic chase and firefight with the police and another, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, is in custody). Through it all, Boston stayed strong and unified, as evidenced by this incredible rendition of the National Anthem, sang by the crowd at the Boston Bruins hockey game:

To celebrate that unwavering spirit, Adidas is releasing a limited edition t-shirt, which reads “Boston Stands as One” via WWD. The tee is priced at $26.20 to honor the 26.2 mile distance of the Boston Marathon.

All proceeds will benefit The One Fund Boston, which will aid families affected by the bombing. Shop here.

I love that Adidas has created this t-shirt as they’re such an instrumental part of the Boston Marathon race. They have sponsored it for 25 years. This year, they dressed more than 8,500 Boston Athletic Association (BAA) volunteers, 3,500 media personnel and race officials in marathon jackets, according to Fashionista.

Adidas America president Patrik Nilsson had this to say: “The selflessness and compassion demonstrated by the city of Boston, the first responders, the Boston Athletic Association and all marathon volunteers in providing assistance to the injured have stuck with us and inspired us. We commend Boston–and those associated with the city and the marathon–for their reaction to this very challenging situation. We applaud them for standing together as one on Monday and in the days which have followed.”

Beautiful.

I was glued to the TV screen yesterday watching every news update in the capturing of the surviving bomb suspect. I was so proud of the BPD, and relieved when Tsarnaev was captured and Bostonians could rest a bit easier at night.

With the whirlwind of emotions the city of Boston and the nation has been through this week from shock to fear to devastation to strength, I think we’ve all earned the right to some levity. Am I right?

This amazing piece on a one-night stand in locked-down Boston that turned into a day-long affair should do the trick.

And Scandal fans will appreciate Luvvie‘s brilliant and spot-on recap of what the Boston manhunt would’ve looked like on the hit ABC show:

Favorite part: “you like water?” Read it here.

Sending love to Boston,

Glamazon Jessica
