Glamazons,
As you may have heard, the success of Fox’s hot new medical drama, Rosewood, has been met with some criticism. Detractors wonder if the story of a doctor fighting against his own mortality (while falling for his female co-star) can keep audiences interested. If that show includes Morris Chestnut, then our vote is ‘Yes.’
Showrunner Todd Hartman agrees. He knew Rosewood needed a great actor to truly make an impact. “We auditioned 70 actors and they were good, but we needed not only a great actor but also someone with that movie star charm. We needed someone larger than life,” Hartman said. “And that’s when the courting began.”
While Chesnut‘s character has cheated death several times on-screen, the actor is glad he’s never had that experience in real life. “Fortunately, [it hasn’t happened] yet. Hopefully, it never happens. I haven’t had any near death experiences.” That is if you don’t count that knockout fight he had with Taye Diggs in The Best Man which, to be honest, was more a near-death experience for Diggs‘ character.
The two movie stars reunite in this season of Rosewood as Taye Diggs plays Dr. Mike Boyce in the series. Will our favorite guys reunite on the silver screen soon for the third installment of The Best Man?
Maybe, Chestnut says. “We actually never shot the third movie,” he reveals. “The studio announced a release date prior to knowing if we were available and unfortunately, we were never able to get together. But hopefully we can soon.”
We’re keeping our fingers crossed. In the meantime, we can tune into Rosewood for plenty of Morris Chestnut and Taye Diggs sightings Wednesdays on Fox. The show returns from its winter hiatus tonight with the introduction of a new consultant played by Sherri Shepherd. Laughs, handsome men and star power? We’ll take it.
Will you be tuning into Rosewood when it airs tonight (Wednesday) at 8P/7C on Fox, Glamazons?
