Backstage Beauty: Fall 2011 Custo Barcelona

If there’s anything that I love more than a bright red lip then it would be a deep, rich red lip…one that’s so rich and red that it looks auburn. Super classy and uber feminine! Love. Amazingly enough, this is exactly the look that fashion designer Custo Barcelona went for at their Fall 2011 show – with a slightly gothish twist, of course.

“Think of the classic story of a dancer who falls in love with a vampire – this was the inspiration for the look,” Maybelline Makeup Artist Gato Zamora said about the beauty look. “It’s romantic meets gothic…feminine yet dramatic.”

Here’s how you can get the look:

-Start by applying the FIT ME! Foundation in your corresponding shade. Then, dot FIT ME! Concealer on the center of the forehead, nose and chin. Also, apply concealer on the high points of cheekbones for additional coverage.

-Illuminate the face and create the illusion of a heart shape by dusting FIT ME! Bronzer from the brow bone to the cheek bone and around the temple.

-For the eyes, Gato skipped the eyeshadow and eyeliner and instead opted to apply the Volum’ Express One By One Mascara in Blackest Black at the root of the lash to keep eyes defined yet still natural.

-For the lips, Gato mixed together Color Sensational Lipcolor in Ruby Star and Line Express Eyeliner in Ebony Black. He then applied the mixture with a brush to create this dark red lip.
