A Day in the Life: Rihanna and Ke$ha Concert at Madison Square Garden with Motions Hair Products

Hey Glamazons!

So like Ferocia, I’ve been super busy with my new job directing a popular Fashion website but I did make time for a concert recently (a girl’s gotta have fun too, right?) featuring one of my FAVORITE fashion and beauty icons, Rihanna.

Since her infamous black asymmetrical cut (the brainchild of Honorary Glamazon, Ursula Stephens), Rihanna has become something of a Fashion/Beauty icon. Since then, she’s went blonde and fire-engine red and experimented with bowl cuts. No matter what critics and those pesky bloggers think of her look, she wears each style with confidence.

The same goes for her fashion statements. We’ve seen her in everything from sharp-shouldered jumpsuits by Alexandre Vauthier to polka dots and paisley! While I’m not as risky as her (but almost…hehe), I appreciate her penchant for having fun and experimenting with Fashion.

Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity to go to Madison Square Garden and see her fierce beauty/fashion looks up close, and to sing along to all her radio hits! To my surprise and delight, Motions rented out a skybox with plenty of food (umm…Crumbs cupcakes), libations and Motions hair products for us to enjoy! (Can I just say the Motions Foaming Wrap lotion saved my curly hair? Amazing).

The concert was even more fun. Ke$ha opened in all her glittery madness and performed hits like “Party at a Rich Dude’s House,” “Dinosaur” and of course, “Tik Tok,” to which I sang every word.

What do you know about leopard print gloves and fishnets? Haha.

Haha, she’s insane and I love it!

Rihanna followed by exclaiming how happy she was to be in New York City at MSG in her Bajan lilt. She performed a bevy of hits, opening with “Russian Roulette,” and ending with her famous “Umbrella” song. (Sidenote: it rained in NYC that day so I’ll forgive the fans that literally took out umbrellas and swayed them during the song LOL).

I loved her performance of “Breaking Dishes” the most. Besides the fact that that’s my sooong, she broke into a drum sequence and sang my anthem, “The Glamorous Life” by Sheila E. during the performance. Love it!

My favorite part of the night though was…you guessed it…the Fashion and Beauty looks. Every look was phenomenal, daring and even dangerous (she wore a leotard with a thong in the back for one of her performances!) Check them out below and let me know what’s your fave and what you wouldn’t rock in a million years.

And scroll down to shop the Motions products I added to my collection at Ursula Stephens’ request. Trust me – you’ll thank me later. Oh, and I added a video of Rih’s performance too – isn’t she great?

Rih on the guitar! Ahem, this was the thong outfit. She’s braver than me!
Only Rihanna can mix Minnie Mouse with leotards and army gear.
Here’s Rih performing ‘Hard.’ She kept the nude leotard and fishnets on for her Rude Boy performance. The hair is still in place – shout out to Ursula!

My favorite look of the night – a light-up black and red gown to rival Katy Perry’s. She looks so fashion-forward and beautiful here but still embodies the dark, goth theme of her album.

What a fun night! Here are the Motions products Ursula recommended that I’ve been loving on my curly hair lately, though they’re great for any texture. The foam wrap lotion and shiny pomade have especially worked wonders:

And check out video of Rih’s performance – she was incredible!
