5 Tricks To Upgrade Your Everyday #Makeup Look! @Covergirl #NOLACrawl

Glamazons,

Full disclosure: I’ve been in a little bit of a makeup rut lately. Thanks to Glamazon Andrea‘s patient tutorials, I have a few staples I like from bronzer to liquid liner. But I want some new tricks for summer that’ll give me some pizazz — spice things up a bit! I shared this with Ebony Star, the makeup artist on hand at the P&G My Black is Beautiful booth at the Convention Center, and she graciously shared a couple of expert tricks with me while giving me a flawless Covergirl look. Check out her makeup tips below plus a few I learned on my own!

1. Add dimension to the face with a highlight.

Raise your hand if you’re a bit intimidated by the whole contouring, highlighting, strobing thing. OK, maybe that’s just me. But Ebony showed me how I can add dimension to my face by just applying a little highlighter strategically. She brushed Covergirl Queen Natural Hue Bronzer in Light Bronze on my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. It caught the light so beautifully in photos!

2. Add a pop of color with liner under your eye.

I’m an eyeliner fanatic so it’s a wonder I haven’t tried this trick already! A pop of color under the eye is an easy way to incorporate color into your look and because it’s subtle, if you choose a soft, muted color, it can even work for the office. As Ebony explained to me, you should reference the color wheel when picking which hue to use. Because my eyes are light brown, the Covergirl Liquiline Blast Eyeliner in Green Glow worked really well for me: orange works for blue, purple for gray and so on. I have to say I LOVE the way my eyes popped with green liner underneath them.

3. Never underestimate the power of a red lip.

There’s red lipstick and then there’s Covergirl Outlast Longwear Lipstick in Red Revenge. See Janelle Monae‘s lips for proof if you don’t know what I mean. It lasted all day long. I put concealer on my lips first to even out the color and followed up with liner to combat running and smearing. Perfection!

4. Get into brow bone highlighter.

Since I’m using a hair growth vitamin (more on this later), my brows grow out so quickly after threading. A new trick I’m found to play up my eyebrow’s shape (and hide hairs growing in) is to add highlighter on the brow bone. I used Covergirl Queen Natural Hue Bronzer in Light Bronze and I loved the pretty glow it added to my face!

5. Give your look a dramatic flair with a cat eye.

We were running nonstop at Essence Fest with barely any time to change outfits from day to night. When you’re pressed for time, I found adding a cat eye is a great way to make your makeup look party-ready. I absolutely loved this cat eye Starr Royl did on Lexi With The Curls using Covergirl Bombshell Intensity Eye Liner in Pitch Black.
