I love love having house guests and the first thing anyone says when they come over is “Hey…can I charge my phone?” They start looking behind chairs for a plug and if you’re smart enough to have a surge protector, you can charge everyone’s phone at once. Ikea‘s making it that much easier to cater to your tech-obsessed houseguests.
They’re launching furniture that can wirelessly charge your phone on April 15th in Europe and North America, followed by a global launch. The furniture uses Qi Wireless technology which enables it to charge phones through an energy induction transfer, according to The Wall Street Journal. Ikea desks, lamps, tables and more will all come with wireless charging pads in them.
Even better: you can transform the furniture you already have into a wireless charging hub using Ikea‘s new add-on kits, also on sale in April.
The new developments aren’t super expensive either. You’ll pay about $30 more than usual for furniture with wireless charging capabilities.
