#NYFW Backstage Beauty: The Blonds Spring 2014 - Makeup by MAC, Nails by CND, Hair by Tigi

Whenever I feel like the backstage beauty looks for New York Fashion Week are starting to look too similar, I start anticipating The Blonds show. Every season, it delivers creative, inspired looks that we reference for months later. Spring 2014 was no different.

I literally gasped over every look I saw backstage, and everyone loved it on social media just as much as I did. Ready to get your life?

Here are the deets:

MAKEUP by MAC Cosmetics

Inspiration:

Tweety Bird! Yes, I’m serious. Or maybe Tweety Bird meets Star Trek (this is the reference that MAC Cosmetics key makeup artist Kabuki gave). The look can be described as a futuristic version of my beloved “Looney Tunes” character with bright yellow eyeshadow on the lids and blue lining under the eyes.

Get The Look:

EYE

-Apply primary yellow ChromaCake shadow across the lid and wing it out using a #242 brush.
-Line the underline with a Hi-Def Cyan chromographic pencil.
-Apply Bambooom paint in the crease and diffuse it upward.
-Apply Studio Finish concealer to the tail of the brow.
-Draw brows straight with coordinating brow pencil color.
-Line the Blacktrack Fluidline across the lid and wing it out to support the primary yellow ChromaCake shadow. Use a #263 brush.
-Apply Haute & Naughty Mascara to the roots of the lashes (top and bottom) and #7 lashes to the top.

FACE

-Conceal where needed with Match Master SPF 15 Foundation.
-Prep and prime using a transparent finishing powder with a #168 brush to soften the shine on the skin.
-Apply Melba blush gently to the apples of the cheeks with a #168 brush.

LIPS

-Apply Shy Girl Creme Sheen lipstick with fingertips to saturate the mouth.
-Apply clear gloss coat (Prolongwear lip gloss) on top to add a wet finish.

HAIR by Tigi

Inspiration

The hair, which was a ginormous blonde high bun, was inspired by Twiggy and Barbarella with a futuristic flair. It was awe-inspiring!

Get The Look

-Create a sleek ponytail using a clear rubber band or ponytail holder.

-Smooth with Tigi Sleek Mystique Look-Lock hairspray.
-Braid ponytail and secure with a clear rubber band or ponytail holder.
-Twist braid around itself to create a top knot and secure with bobby pins.
-Spray Tigi Your Highness Shine Spray for some sheen. (Stop here for an everyday look. Keep going if you want the glamour!)
-Add big hair ball on top of topknot and secure with big French bobby pins.
