We already reported the glamazing news that Balmain is launching a diffusion line, Pierre Balmain. Now, take a look at the pics!
The celebrity favorite (Michael Jackson lived in Balmain) is churning out the same rockstar aesthetic with zippered motorcycle jackets and pants that personify cool—but this time 90% cheaper than the eponymous line.
The line, which includes Mens and Womens knitwear, denim and separates, retails for about $174 (for tees) up to $1,000 for eveningwear. Debuting in Spring 2012, the line will launch this Spring and will include a short video promoting it (can’t wait to see!).
The new creative director, Olivier Rousteing, who replaced Christophe Decarnin at Balmain after he was MIA at the Fall 2011 Fashion Week show, is the genius behind the new line. The strategic move will certainly help support the brand financially and expose it to a wider range of consumers.
CEO Alain Hivelin certainly thinks the collection is a great idea. He told WWD: “We see Pierre Balmain as a new and distinct brand that is inspired by the successes and history of a great house, but offers a look and product that respond to the needs and desires of today’s marketplace.”
The line seems to embrace zebra print, denim skirts with printed trim along the hem and of course zippers!
Live for that leather/denim Mens jacket (Have to have it!!).
What do you think of the line so far?
Kisses,
Glamazon Jessica
