So, remember when I told you that I was newly obsessed with E! Entertainment Television’s Giuliana Rancic ever since that I did that interview along with her husband, Bill Rancic?! Well, it seems as if the obsession gods are smiling upon me because I was given the exclusive opportunity from skincare brand DDF (Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula) to sit and chat with the celebrity reporter again a couple of weeks ago. So amazing! Side note: I’m totally not obsessed with Giuliana in the scary “Single White Female” manner. It’s more of like someone that I look up to because I think she does such a great job covering celebrity news for E! and I love her work ethic. (Which is obviously of one that of a very hard worker considering how quickly she’s risen to her current status.)
Giuliana is an avid spokesperson for DDF and chatted with me about how she came to test it out for herself as well as other stuff like her crazy pants work schedule and how she manages to convince herself to work out (even when she’s gotten like -1 hour of sleep!)
Glamazon Andrea: Tell me about your partnership with DDF!
Giuliana: Well, I’ll tell you all about it. About 8 years ago, I’d just started at E! and our supervising producer at the time (who’s name was Toni) said “My sister works for this company called DDF. Have you ever heard of it?” And I said I’d never heard of them. So she said they’re going to send you some products. And it’s been 8 years and it’s all that we use in the makeup room at E!. So all of my moisturizers, all of my cleansers, all we use is DDF. And honestly there was no partnership between myself and DDF. It was just something that we just legitimately loved and used.
So, time went by and I got a little bit more saavier. (Because you know, you get saavy in this business.) So I went to Toni and was like “Call your sister! Is there anything I can do for this brand? Any appearances? Just like whatever.” Because you know when you believe in something it’s really easy to go out there and talk about it.
And she was like “Nah, they don’t need a spokesperson” and I was like this is pathetic. I’m like begging them to be their spokesperson.
But then I stopped. I stopped asking. And it was pathetic. And a year ago they came to me and were like “We know that you’re a huge fan of DDF and we have this new product coming out” and it was the Revolve 400X.

Glamazon Andrea: Yeah, I’ve tried it.
Giuliana: Your skin is beautiful.
Glamazon Andrea: Oh, thanks! I do use DDF.
Giuliana: Really? Isn’t it great?
Glamazon Andrea: Yeah!
Giuliana: It’s excellent. Their line is so good. What I love about this (the Revolver) is that, you know I travel so much for work and I just use this twice a week, and you know there’s a cleansing brush. And I use this at night. In the shower. And I literally just throw in my suitcase with my socks. It’s just easy for me and it really does work.
I was just telling this story, but about 10 years ago, I bought a package of facials from this girl Frankie in L.A. And I would get these phone calls saying that I was due for a facial and I was like “Do these expire?” and they were like no. But I don’t even need to go anymore because I can do it so much easier at home. My skin looks great and I love it. It’s the one thing that I’ve turned everyone on to because it’s so great.
OK, so major interjection here: there’s a brand new product Giuliana introduced me to while there coming out from the brand called the Amplifying Elixir ($70; pictured above) that launches in August. I’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks and it really amazing! It’s a pre-moisturizing treatment that you can use both a.m. and p.m. that works to boost your skin’s moisture barrier by up to 70%. It makes my skin super soft and dewy (when I’m not wearing makeup) and I swear that my makeup goes on more evenly when I do apply it! LOVE.
Giuliana: Now, there’s a new product and I don’t know if you’ve ever had a chance to try this. You’re going to flip over this. OK, so you know how makeup artists always say that you need to use primer and you’re like “Do I really need to add yet another item to my little routine?” but this works amazing. And I even had my makeup artist come and tell me that “I’ve been telling you forever that you really need to use something before moisturizer.” This goes on right after you cleanse in the morning and you press it right into your skin so everything that goes on over that amplifies it and makes it so pretty.
So you’ll see when you try this tomorrow. When you put your moisturizer on over that, you’ll see that your moisturizer sits better and looks dewier and prettier.
We spend all this money on moisturizers and makeup and all these things that you do need to prep your skin. You know, I never really realized the value of it, but it really does work!
And I should have known because I DO use an eyeshadow base from Trish McEvoy that I really like from her. It’s called Eye Base Essentials. But when you use an eyeshadow base, your eyeshadow definitely sits better.
Glamazon Andrea: You’re obviously in shape, your skin looks amazing. How do you do all of this and keep your job and stay married?
Giuliana: And you know what? Can I tell you that it’s just a lot of sacrifice. It’s not gonna just happen, you know what I mean? I mean, there’s no secret. There’s no magic pills. Everything takes effort. Like this morning , I got in late from Miami. No sleep this weekend. Crazy. This morning I had a Today Show hit and then I had two meetings, then this and then I have the event at Sephora later. And then I had to wash my hair this morning and then blow dry it which was like 45 minutes. Then do my makeup. Blah, blah, blah. But, last night before going to bed I was like looking at my alarm clock and going “Do I go to the gym or do I not go to the gym?” and I had every excuse in the world not to go to the gym. But I thought to myself “I’m going to the gym.”
I think what happens is that people think to themselves that “Oh, God. Gym in the morning. That’s like a whole commitment. And then I was like you know what? 30 minutes. I call it the B.TN. workout. Better Than Nothing. So instead of an hour on the treadmill I did like 30 minutes and then I did like 5 minutes of abs and then 10 minutes of weights and got outta there. And I was like whew! It wasn’t like I was just rolling out of bed and then running to The Today Show. So, by the time I’d gotten there, I’d been up like 3 hours so I was more on, you know?
