You Have to See the Bejeweled Nails at The Blonds Spring 2017 #NYFW
Out of all the NYFW shows, I get super excited for The Blonds presentation because the pieces embody over-the-top glamour. Seriously…how is it possible for each season to top the last? Celebs such as Kelly Osbourne, Dascha Polanco and Ireland Baldwin were in attendance to watch the design duo David and Phillipe Blond debut a collection that was all about rock star decadence. And the show’s #blackgirlmagic levels were all the way up with models in a variety of tones pounding the runway in luxe silver, platinum, gold and nude pieces. Love!
Let’s get into the details, shall we?
Here are all the deets for The Blonds Spring 2017 collection:
Inspiration: Pulling influence from a variety of muses such as Lana Del Rey, heavy metal music and the film “Clash of the Titans,” the collection was made with “all the iconic girls” in mind. David and Phillipe Blond opted to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary by revamping their signature runway style to include more alluring evening wear pieces. “It’s our 10th anniversary, so we really thought about what that meant to us and what our signatures are. We wanted to revisit our signatures, like platinum and tulle. We’re at a point now where we’re starting to mature the line. We’re heading in a bit of a different direction. We’re going to add special occasion, red carpet.”
Lead artist Mei Kawajiri used seven different shades from Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer‘s line to create the models’ intricate nail designs. And she adorned the nails with chrome and metallic crystals from Preciosa Crystal Components to complement the drama of the runway pieces.
Key Pieces: Tons of sequins, nude bodysuits and leotards, liquid bomber jackets, a sheer panel dress, sleeveless muscle jackets, neutral corsets, sequins, laser-cut detailing, crystal embroidery, sunburst pleats, embroidered gowns, knee-high socks, metallic thigh-high boots, crop tops with high necklines and pleated skirts.
Who I Could See Wearing This Collection: Rihanna, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lopez
