The One Jumpsuit Every Stylish Woman Should Own #OOTD

I’ve wanted to do this shoot for a long time. When my incredible photographer Denisse approached me with the idea to shoot on this street in Harlem, I jumped at the chance. This street will always be special to me. It’s the road I would take from Columbia University to 125th street, to buy incense, jewelry, shea butter and whatever else from the street vendors, to giddily point out landmarks like the Apollo and the Cotton Club. This street reminds me of the moment when I first fell in love with Harlem, when I was so green I’d get lost on the subway, when I was still dreaming about the life I sometimes take for granted now. It will always be a beautiful reminder of how far I’ve come.

I loved the idea of shooting in a jumpsuit because it’s the summer version of a power suit to me. It’s effortless, but it also conveys confidence and boldness. I first tried this jumpsuit on in Madrid, and I was immediately obsessed (the Zara there is SO much more affordable and has a better selection, by the way!). I get so many compliments in it, and it’s honestly my favorite summer look to wear. I have jumpsuits in every color from white to red to black, and I just love that it’s a no-brainer that still commands attention. My favorite neckline is strapless though: something about that look just slays without even trying. With my red lip, my mirrored sunglasses from Missguided (in silver!) and my ‘fro fresh from a twist out, this jumpsuit made me feel like I was on top of the world…or Harlem world, at least.
