#PFW: Pastels and Platinum Hair at Balmain Fall 2016 [We’re Obsessed]
Balmain is all about confident statement pieces that flatter a woman’s shape so it came as no surprise that designer Olivier Rousteing sent an army of models down the runway with cinched waists and form-fitting padded skirts. Taking a more modest approach than seasons past, the Fall 2016 collection hinged on luxe pastel separates and soft textures. But the fashion house continued its flare for the dramatic with fur, tassels and an array of prints.
Supermodels like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stormed the runway. Kris Jenner and Kanye West were among showgoers at the Hotel Potocki as a live orchestra serenaded the crowd with songs from David Bowie, Savage Garden and Queen.
Here are all the deets for the Balmain Fall 2016 Collection:
Inspired by his Spring 2016 campaign shoot featuring Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford, Olivier Rousteing wanted to focus attention on the dimensions of a woman’s body and accentuate our waists and curves.
To complement the subtlety of the clothes, hairstylist Sam McKnight switched up the models’ looks with custom extensions and wigs from Balmain‘s hair care line for a “cool Balmain girl with an easy, sexy, natural look.”
Tom Pecheux of MAC Cosmetics opted to use warmer tones for a barely-there makeup look with nude lips and thick brows as the finish.
The top models donned wigs for the shoot with Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid notably switching hair colors.
Thigh-high suede boots, floor-length pastel coats, sheer lace trousers, lampshade skirts, high-waist corset skirts, fur and laced accents, wool waist jackets, tassled trousers and mini dresses, embellished brocade dresses, shearling booties, and opaque tights.
