Glamazons, I can’t tell you the last time Glamazon Andrea and I did a shoot together. We probably were both working at The Magazine, before her son #Arterbaby, before we both launched successful freelance careers, back when we had no idea whether we’d actually make it in New York City despite the fact that we’d given up relationships, tons of money and our comfortable lives in our relative small towns to be here. It’s been almost 7 years since then. Looking back, we’ve accomplished much more than we imagined when we came up with our blog idea in Chipotle (of all places) just so we’d have somewhere to write freely. Writing for the magazine felt like such an elusive goal then; now, we’ve written for The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Glamour, ELLE, Cosmo and more (can you even?!). Back then, we lived at our jobs, one cubicle apart. Now, Glamazon Andrea lives over 1,000 miles away in Texas. Sometimes I get sad when my friends leave New York City but then I think it’s just another excuse to travel and see them. Hence our trip to Jazz Fest in New Orleans this weekend (more on this to come!), which also reunited us with my best friend Melissa who I met at The Magazine around the same time (she worked in the beauty department). We’ve each grown, evolved, lived out some of our dreams and gotten closer to others. But the one thing that hasn’t changed is our bond. And, as we joke, once you’ve worked in an assistant position at the style department of a magazine (aka the editorial equivalent of pledging a sorority), you’re connected forever.

What do you think of our first shoot in years? More to come!

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
