6 Skincare Products Perfect For Winter

Hey Glamazons! Obviously the winter season is in full effect (especially here in NYC…super cold! Brrrrr!!). I don’t know about you, but my skin tends to get really dry during this time (versus its usual normal/oily state in the summer) and I have to change up the products that I use. Not only am I looking for moisture, but I’m also wanting to look radiant and alive considering that I’m living this full time working single #momlife.

Side note: This means that I usually receive little to no sleep and I’m always freaking out about some thing or another. However, I want none of this lifestyle to actually show up in my skin, so these products help me to cheat a little bit. The highest compliment that you could possibly pay me right now would be: “Wow! You look like you really relaxed and like you get lots of rest!” in which I flutter my eyelashes and reply “Oh, thank you!” knowing full well it was the sleeping mask and gobs of eye cream that I put on this morning.

By Terry Cellularose Cleansing Oil, $68, barneys.com

It’s a universal (beauty) truth that using an oil-based remover is the best way to remove waterproof or hard-to-budge mascara. This cleanser is not only great for that, but it can also be used all over your face as well. Not only does it smell divine (that beautiful rose scent is always a winner for me!) but it contains other lovely good-for-skin ingredients such as: nourishing Jojoba, regenerating Camellia Oil, hydrating Olive Oil extract and radical-fighting Cherry Blossom Extract. You would think that since this is an oil that it would leave your skin feeling heavy and greasy, but it actually leaves it feeling clean, smooth and hydrated.

June Jacobs Intensive Age Defying Peel Pads, $75, junejacobs.com

Let me just go ahead and say that any skincare product that comes in the form of a pad will always be a winner in my book. Side note: I am sure that this has something to do with the fact that one of the first skincare products I ever used were the Noxema pads and I OBVS loved those, too. These are way more sophisticated than Noxema pads in that they contain a slew of fabulous anti-aging ingredients such as: lactic, physic, glycolic acids and retinol. All of them work together to help promote cell turnover and reduce the appearance of fine lines, large pores and skin discoloration without any irritating side effects. My skin looked radiant and glowing after just one use! The most important thing to note about this product is that it does contain AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) which increases your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, so do limit sun exposure while using this product for at least a week.

Proactiv-Emergency-Blemish-Relief

Proactiv + Emergency Blemish Relief, $46, DiscoverProactiv.com

Pimples happen. No matter how much water I may drink and veggies I consume, I am always doomed to have a breakout at least once per month. When it happens, I like to be able to dab a little something on it after washing my face and pray that in the morning it’s gone away. This doesn’t always happen, but I have found that this Emergency Blemish Relief definitely turns my pimples/zits into an overnight disappearing act. #PRAISEHIM It does not sting at all, is invisible (so you can wear under makeup if need be) and contains soothing botanical ingredients to help moisturize and soothe irritated skin.

BLISS-515

bliss multi-‘face’-eted, $50, blissworld.com

I am all about a clay mask and I think they are probably one of the most under-written about products in the skincare world. This mask is one of the quickest ways to de-gunk pores, reduce visible fine lines and wrinkles, fade discoloration and dark spots, unclog pores and visibly diminish the look of large pores, brighten and even skin tone, nourish and deeply moisturize and smooth texture. Whew! I know, sounds too good to be true. That’s why you have to try this to believe it, Glamazons. I like to put it on after washing my face in the morning. Then, I do domestic things like make coffee and run around in circles making sure that my toddler doesn’t kill himself. I use a warm washcloth to wash it off my face and afterwards my skin feels super refreshed. Directions on the box recommend using this twice a week, but I enjoy it so much that I sometimes will use it three times per week (Monday, Thursday, Saturday).

jan-marini-holiday-exfoliator-sugar-cookie-2-0-oz-1

Jan Marini Sugar Cookie Scented Exfoliator, $85, janmarini.com

Exfoliating is always a must when it comes to caring for your skin. While you guys know all about the love I have for my Clarisonic (which I use at least once per week), I also sometimes like to use good exfoliator in my skincare regimen as well. The best part about this one (besides all of the good-for-your-skin ingredients, which I’ll get to in a minute) is that it smells like real sugar cookies. Absolutely delicious! This Instant Refining Exfoliator contains glycolic acid, proteolytic enzymes (Papain from Green Unripened Papaya), a spherical dissolving bead technology and antioxidants. It’s very gentle on the skin leaves it glowing (and smelling amazing) after each use.

NI016-nia24-treatment-catalyst-oil

NIA24 Treatment Catalyst, $71, NIA24.com

This is definitely not your average face oil. First of all, it comes in a little tiny container and, for the price point, you may look at it as one gigantic waste of money. But, this little container packs a powerful punch and only a small bit of this stuff is needed at one time to do the trick. It works as a performance enhancing catalyst to help accelerate the results of your current skincare products. Apply a drop to your face moisturizer or serum every morning and night to help improve the health and condition of your skin. There is 5% Pro-Niacin in this  product which will work to improve the appearance of hyper pigmentation and sun damage, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve the skin’s tone and improve the skin’s tone, texture and firmness. I like to add a drop to my face serum and apply. After just one week, I noticed an overall healthier glow in my skin which just goes to show that a little boost to your products never hurt anyone!

What are some of your winter skincare faves, Glamazons?

xoxo
