#NYFW: Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2015 is All Fifties-Inspired Floral and Gingham Print
Can I be completely honest? For me, there are very few designers who absolutely nail their collections year after year. Diane von Furstenberg is the exception! Her Spring 2015 collection, replete with bright colors and signature wrap dresses, was nothing short of glamazing. As household names Lily Donaldson and Naomi Campbell along with up-and-comer Kendall Jenner cat-walked to joyful, sensual tunes (including Barry White), guests were taken on a whimsical journey through the sunny French Riviera.
With New York City’s First Lady Chirlane McCray, Whoopi Goldberg, and Estelle in the front row, Diane shared that she wanted attendees to leave the show “in a good mood.” Mission accomplished.
Here Are All the Deets for Diane von Furstenberg’s Spring 2015 Collection
Inspired by painter Henri Matisse‘s colorful art palette and Brigitte Bardot‘s feminine sex appeal, the collection mixed retro 50s glamour with modern elegance. Diane said: “The collection is called Riviera, and it is inspired by the glamour of the mid-century Cote d’Azur—think Brigitte Bardot and gingham and azure blues, all spun together in a nostalgic collage of print and color.”
The vibrant collection was offset by voluminous, wind-blown tresses styled by Biosilk‘s Orlando Pita, while makeup artist Pat McGrath created a dramatic smokey eye.
Black and white gingham print babydoll dresses, floral outerwear, structural box-cut separates, high-waist flared trousers, lace knitwear, ruffled trim, sheer wrap dresses, airy skirts, wasp-like skirts, mid-calf skirts, floor-length tiered gowns, pastel pink, pastel yellow, monochromatic skirt suits, floral bralets, plunging v-neck crop tops with cap sleeves and short shorts.
Who We Could See Wearing The Collection: Kerry Washington, Chrissy Teigen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Zoe Saldana and Rosario Dawson.
