What They Wore: 2014 Oscars
Glamazons, The night we have been dreaming about for weeks is finally here – the 86th Annual Academy Awards! The Oscars are unquestionably the most glamorous night in Hollywood and celebs pull out all the stops on the red carpet. From Lupita Nyong’o to Julia Roberts, our favorite celebs came dressed to impress. Here’s the full rundown:
Kerry Washington went sultry tonight in a custom violet Jason Wu strapless, draped gown with a front slit and deep berry lips. Love the half up, half-down hair and Kerry‘s radiant glow. GLAM SLAM!
Lupita Nyong’o surprised us by ditching her brights and going for a pastel color tonight. The nominee looked radiant in a Prada pastel blue floor-length gown with a full skirt and plunging neckline, accessorized with a headband and big hair. She said the color reminded her of Nairobi. #nairobiblue
She looks stunning, ethereal and whimsical. This look is perfection.
Jennifer Lawrence was a lady in red in signature Dior with peplum details. She is rocking her slightly bouffant hair and silver jewels. This is a bit on the plain side for JLaw, but the effortless look works for her.
Sandra Bullock worked this navy blue Alexander McQueen silk gown with a sweetheart neckline and flowing train. Her side-swept waves and smokey-eye made for a classic, dramatic look. Love!
Viola Davis made me green with envy in an asymmetrical, emerald Escada gown. Her short bob complete with feathered waves added an old Hollywood glam element. Love!
Cate Blanchett is the epitome of radiant in a nude Giorgio Armani gown with floral applique and beading and matching jewels. Her shoulder-length bob is the perfect addition to the gown.
Portia de Rossi looked angelic in a cream Naeem Khan gown. Sporting a much shorter haircut, this is the perfect transition look from day to night. I love when celebs take a risk with patterns and prints and own it! Perfection!
Kristen Chenoweth looked like an Oscar statue in gold Roberto Cavalli with an art deco-inspired feel. I absolutely love the color against her skin tone and how she let the dress speak for itself with minimal accessories.
Giuliana Rancic looked like a fairy princess in an embroidered Paola Sebastian gown. She paired the look with Sergio Rossi shoes and Judith Leiber clutch. I am more of a fan when Giuliana wears darker colors but she is gorg nonetheless.
Shaun Robinson wore red on the red carpet in a cutout Romona Keveza gown with a middle slit. She kept it simple with gold heels and jewels and a contrasting red clutch. An understated, yet beautiful selection.
Kristen Bell stayed true to character in an icy Roberto Cavalli gown. She paired the gown with pulled back hair and a pop of color with a bold pink lip. I especially love the layered detailing of the train and the corset back.
Julia Roberts wore a black lace Givenchy gown with peplum detailing while sporting a newly blonde do’. While she has not been my favorite this award show season, she shows she isn’t trying too hard and appears extremely elegant and classy.
Chrissy Teigen made for an over-the-top entrance in a black and pink floral Monique Lhuillier gown. She accessorized perfectly in black strappy heels and three-stone diamond earrings. Also, her shade of lip was to die for!
Idina Menzel was nothing short of breathtaking in a hunter green, strapless Vera Wang gown. She made the look her own with a diamond statement necklace and bone-straight tresses. I seriously cannot stop obsessing over this color!
Amy Adams was striking in a navy blue Gucci Couture gown. Although she normally wears bright colors on the red carpet, this was a welcomed change. Her red hair and pink tear-drop earrings are a nice added contrast and the gown fit her like a glove.
Jessica Biel sparkled in an A-line Chanel Couture gown. Even though she played it a bit safe with the hair and makeup, I love the jewels that complement the dazzle in her gown. Beautiful!
Can Charlize Theron do any wrong? The actress is wearing a curve-hugging, black Dior gown with a plunging neckline and barely-there straps. The dress is completed with sheer detailing and layered train. Wearing a black gown on the red carpet is always tricky, but she definitely made the right choice! One of the night’s best dressed for sure!
Naomi Watts was a vision in white wearing a Calvin Klein beaded gown with black strappy heels and dual-toned clutch. She kept things simplistically chic with straight hair and a red lip.
Kate Hudson looks exquisite in an Atelier Versace gown with a plunging neckline, a draped bodice and a train. I sort of wish her hair was in an undo but I still love this look! Flawless!
In a departure from her usual basic black, Angelina Jolie hit the red carpet in a shimmery long sleeve gown by Elie Saab Couture with a sheer layer across the chest. I haven’t seen her look this fashion-forward in awhile. GLAM SLAM!
Jada Pinkett-Smith kept things as elegant as ever in a custom Versace halter gown with a train and gathered waist. Hubby Will Smith was by her side with a beard, which looks handsome on him in my opinion. Love their looks!
Anne Hathaway is one of my favorites on the red carpet and tonight was no exception. The actress is wearing a black Gucci gown with silver studs adorned on the halter. Her pixie cut and simple make-up gave her a fresh look. Chic!
Pharrell looked #happy in Lanvin cut-off capris and suit jacket. Even though the look is a bit unorthodox for the Oscars, it works well for his personality and his Oscar night performance was extraordinary!
Lady Gaga made a surprise arrival on the Oscars red carpet tonight in a pale pink embellished strapless sheath gown with metallic piping and a floor-length scarf. She slicked her platinum blonde hair back. Very Donatella-esque look from Gaga and not as theatrical as I’m used to seeing her (which may not be a bad thing). GLAM but hate the hair.
Matthew McConaughey walked away from the Oscars with a win for his role in “Dallas Buyers Club.” The leading man looked dapper in his black and white tux. His wife Camila Alves, complimented him in a soft pink Gabriela Cadena gown. These two have nailed every red carpet look this award season. What a hot couple!
Penélope Cruz also went with a pastel pink look for her red carpet fashion moment. The gorgeous actress wore one -shoulder Giambattista Valli Couture gown. The draping gives the gown a romantic feel.
Gabourey Sidibe got it right for the Oscars. The American Horror Story actress wore a purple Theia gown covered with floral appliques. The actress continued her glam look with Dionea Orcini earrings.
A little rain wasn’t going to stop Kelly Osbourne‘s shine. The E! Correspondent looked great in a white and gold Badgley Mischka gown. I love the metallic overlay. Kelly is channeling old Hollywood Glam. Gorg!
Julia’s “August: Osage County” co-star, Meryl Streep also went with a black number. The actress wore a black and white Lanvin gown. I wanted more of a glamorous look, but she’s red carpet royalty so she can do whatever she wants, no?
Emma Watson shined in a gun-metal Vera Wang gown. A messy ponytail completed this effortless chic look.
It’s nothing like a well dressed man. The Oscars was full of handsome men in stylish looks. Jared Leto was one of them. The sexy guy was a winner on and off the red carpet. He walked away with a gold statue and a spot on my best dressed men’s list.
Tyler Perry kept things classic in blue tuxedo with black satin lapels.
Michael B. Jordan spiced it up in his Givenchy tux. Givenchy gave the classic tux an edgy makeover and I love it. The Fruitvale Station star continued the edgy theme with his gold plated Givenchy shoes.
Michael Strahan made a statement in red and black tuxedo. I’m not sure if this was a sham, what do you think?
My favorites were Lupita Nyong’o, Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron. Who wore your favorite look tonight? Tell us in the comments.
