5 Items We Want To See in Lupita’s Makeup Collection #LupitaforMAC

Glamazons,

Unless you’re living under a rock, we’re sure you’ve heard of the Twitter campaign to get Lupita Nyong’o a collection for MAC Cosmetics (to undoubtedly sell out like her friend, Rihanna‘s). I’m all for a makeup collection for Lupita, but it doesn’t have to be MAC (though we love them).

Lupita‘s been spotted in Dior, NARS, Chanel, Lancome, YSL and MAC Cosmetics makeup, so she could totally do a collection with either of those brands. Regardless of who the lucky makeup brand is, there are certain staple items that just have to be in the collection. Yes, we’re claiming Lupita has a signature look only one Awards season in.

Here are 5 items that simply must turn up in her makeup line, you know, if she ends up creating one:

1. Foundation for All Shades

Lupita Nyong’o was blessed with flawless skin already but she still embraces a little foundation every now and then. At the BAFTAs, artist Kay Montano used Lancome Teint Idole Ultra (shade 15) as a sheer fluid base and Lancome Air De Teint (shade 13) under and around her eyes and at the top of her cheekbones.  Most brands don’t offer a full range of foundations that cater to darker skin tones so we’d expect to see shades that cater to deeper complexions in Lupita‘s collection.

2. Blue Eyeshadow

No one can rock blue eyeshadow quite like Lupita. At the SAG Awards, the “12 Years a Slave” star dazzled in Chanel’s Quadra Eye Shadow in FascinationChanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Amethyst and Chanel Limited Edition Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Pêche Cuivre, applied by her go-to artist Nick Barrose. Since we love how Lupita experiments with color, we need for blue everything to pop up in her first makeup line.

3. Soft Blush

The Kenyan beauty’s cheeks are always flushed, thanks to artist Kay Montano. At the “12 Years a Slave” London press screening, Montano applied Nars blush in Exhibit A to “put rich terracotta tones back into dark skin.” Since women with dark skin are sometimes scared to embrace blush, we want Lupita to show ’em how it’s done by including complimentary blushes in her collection.

4. Smoky Green Eyeshadow

What’s sexier than Lupita‘s smoky green eye at the BAFTAs? Kay Montano created the smoldering dark green shade by mixing together Lancome Hypnose palette D03 and Lancome Hypnose palette DR3. We love it because it’s different than your regular smoky eye but still sultry enough for the red carpet or a night on the town. She just has to include it!

5. Purple Lipstick

You can’t talk about Lupita Nyong’o‘s makeup without mentioning how she rocks purple lipstick with aplomb. The Oscar winner is genius at choosing the shade that works with her skin tone, and she makes the vivid color look sophisticated and regal. At the Governors Awards, her main artist Nick Barose mixed MAC Cosmetics mineralized lipstick in Midnight Mambo with a touch of MAC Cosmetics eyeshadow in Vibrant Grape on top. The color was perfect!

What else would you want to see in Lupita‘s makeup collection, Glamazons? Would you be checking for it?

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
