Scandal Fashion Recap: Olivia Pope’s Alexander McQueen Military Style Peplum Jacket and Escada Grey Suit

OK, Glamazons, I technically haven’t seen the second episode of “Scandal” yet (though I’ve seen the promo and read Scandal Moments amazing analysis of it) but I had to find the fashion as soon as ABC released pictures. It’s that dope.

Here’s what I spotted:

Olivia Pope is in dark colors, Guys. That means she’s going through it — and is not feeling so honorable and in control as she does when she’s in white. Trust me, there’s a meaning behind the colors.

In the board room, she’s all serious business in a grey Escada suit:

And she looks particularly distressed in an Alexander McQueen navy peplum jacket:

More looks to come after the show!

What do you think of these so far?

UPDATE: OK, guys, I saw the show and a day later, I’m still speechless. The biggest stunner for me? The new Quinn (more on that later) and Olivia and her father, Rowan, errr, Eli‘s relationship. Oh AND how Liv‘s style has evolved from the flashbacks of her in law school until now. Let’s dig in, shall we?

FLASHBACKS

Liv loves the same designers: Burberry and Prada (and we see Ralph Lauren and Max Mara mixed in) but she’s wearing jeans, skirts and cardigans during her law school years. She’s a bit softer, more trusting and less guarded in this era before she finds out the truth about her father.

Here we go:

Liv interacts with her homeless friend Huck on the D.C. metro in a Stella McCartney gray tweed ruffle neck coat:

She discovers the truth about her father’s job (Smithsonian? Pfft. Try director of B613!) holding the same vintage Prada ‘Style’ bag Meryl Streep wore in “The Devil Wears Prada” (Liv has the black version):

PRESENT DAY

Olivia held a press conference and later, checked the morgue for Jake‘s dead body in a Max Mara ‘Eliana’ gray belted shawl coat:

Okay, I normally don’t do this, but other characters told a story with their clothes this episode. Check them out!

ABBY

Did anyone else notice her full face of makeup and jazzy printed wardrobe this season? She reported for duty at OPA wearing a DKNY wine cashmere shawl collar coat, a Joie ‘Fiala’ feather print tank and a Tom Ford ‘Jennifer’ bag:

Excuse me, Abby. Get her exact top and bag, and similar coats:

I noticed that Mellie and Quinn were wearing the same color and I told my family over dinner that’s because they both betrayed Olivia and can’t be trusted (Mellie by paying Jeannine off to say she had an affair with Fitz and Quinn for hacking Liv‘s email to uncover her relationship with her father). They think I’m reaching but everything is intentional on “Scandal.”

Mellie wore an Escada cobalt blue dress with sapphire jewelry:

Quinn wore the same color to dress Jeannine for her TV appearance:

Coincidence? I think not!

And finally, Huck donned black leather to confront Liv in the parking garage. He’s usually in casual plaid and jeans, so the leather totes signified danger to me:

Whew! OK long post, but I hope you enjoyed. And for my fave moments:

The day Liv discovered wine as a food group:

Fitz‘s balls are presidential:

Comedy!
