A Day In The Life: Phillip Lim for Target Pre-Launch Shopping Event with Solange and Jessica Alba

Glamazons,

If I had a dollar for everyone that asked me “Is that Phillip Lim for Target? How do you have it already?” on the street today, I could buy the whole collection. (Yes, I’ve already worn the blazer).

Clearly, I’ve been enjoying the spoils of the editor pre-launch shopping event, but it was NOT easy to shop! Let’s start at the beginning.

When I got the invite for the pre-shopping editor launch event, starting at 7PM, I didn’t think I’d have to be there at 7 on the dot. I mean, it wasn’t the official store launch, right? Wrong!

I saw on Twitter that there was a line down the block before we even arrived at the event in Tribeca at 7:20PM. Crazy! Then my friend, Danielle of Style and Beauty Doctor, texted me that all the #PhillipLimforTarget pieces were already gone. Girl, what?!

I ran down Varick Street to get to the venue (and told Christina of LoveBrownSugar who came with me to bury me in the #PhillipLimforTarget cartoon sweater if I get hit by a car).

After I made it inside, mostly everything was indeed gone. I went into Plan B mode, which you may remember from past-collaboration launch shopping events is to stalk the dressing rooms, registers and staffers replenishing until I can grab something.

Glamazons, you would be proud. I did pretty well. Here’s what I got:

The Leopard Print Dress I Was Coveting:

-The Same Leopard Print in a Pajama Shirt/Blazer:

-The Leather-Paneled Dress I Loved ($49.99):

-The Cartoon Dress Instead of the Sweatshirt (which was gone in the first ten minutes btw! Not mad though. The dress has a black ruffle trim on the bottom and is totes adorable!)

-A Black Bag with Gold Metal Detail

And here’s what I learned about the collection:

-It runs super big.

My cartoon dress above is an XS and I haven’t worn that size since high school. The blazer? A medium and it fits like an oversized piece. The leather panel dress is a tad snug – that’s a 4 (I’m usually a 6) so that’s the one piece that runs smaller. Everything else? Prepare to wear it big or go a size down.

-The yellow bag was so small!

You guys remember me drooling over it? Well, it looks luxurious at a next-to-nothing price because it’s a tiny little thing. You can fit your keys, cell phone and some lip gloss, but thassssit. I had to skip over it and go for roomier bags (I carry everything but the kitchen sink with me) but the color is still to-die-for.

Are you planning to shop the line early on September 15th? Me too! Going back for this brown bag, this sweatshirt and more!

Check out the full collection and make your wishlist here and shop here.

P.S. I was so focused on the clothes, I almost forgot to have a kiki with the celeb Glamazons in the room.

Ultimate Glamazon Solange was there, looking impeccable in the navy-and-black tuxedo blazer ($59.99) which she paired with the leopard skirt ($29.99). And for accessories, she threw on luxurious Givenchy sandals and a Fendi clutch, naturally.

Gorge.

Another one of my fave style stars Jessica Alba was there in the sweatshirt in Boom print ($29.99) and navy-and-black tuxedo pants ($39.99). She accessorized with the black bag with gold metal detailing and Christian Louboutin pumps.

Hannah Bronfman made in appearance in the floral print blouse and yellow bag which she paired with a two-slit black skirt and black booties.

Finally, Maria Sharapova stepped out in a navy-and-green pullover ($34.99). She paired it with a navy banded skirt ($29.99) and white Nicholas Kirkwood pumps.

Cute!

Happy shopping, Glamazons!

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica

I KNEW this collection would sell fast! Looks like I’ll be up early camping outside Target on Sunday!!
I’m upset that this yellow bag is so small but I might still get it anyway.
