I am a huge advocate for pampering yourself. No matter how busy your schedule or great your responsibilities to everyone else, you truly must make time to be good to yourself. I really benefit from giving my life balance. I work incessantly (sometimes around the clock) and then take time to unplug from everything and relax.
I usually do this in the bath tub. Something about the water calms me, and it’s great, sexy, serene alone time. I try to take one atleast once a week (after having a deep conditioning date with my curls) and I go all out: candles, a good book (currently reading: “It’s Complicated” by Paul Brunson), avoidance of social media, etc. It’s amazing what it does for my spirit and disposition just to unwind and relieve a little stress.
After snagging the Shea Moisture Body Scrub in Coconut & Hibiscus at their New Orleans pop-up shop during our #NolaCrawl, I decided to give it a whirl this week.
It’s a favorite because it contains coconut oil which nourishes skin, Vitamin E which firms skin and hibiscus flower, a natural emollient that helps improve skin tone.
But what I love most, besides the fact that my skin always feels deliciously soft afterward, is that the scent is so soothing. Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus body scrub really makes me feel I’m on an island resort for a second, even with the NYC soundtrack (that is, sirens blaring nonstop) in the background.
Some tips for scrubbing?
-Don’t overdo it (once a week is fine, especially if you have sensitive skin).
-Scrub towards your heart (up the legs, stomach and arms).
-Avoid scrubbing if you just shaved (learned this the hard way).
-Moisturize after (I love Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Body Lotion…duh!).
