A Day In The Life: 10 Summer Memories I’ll Always Treasure #GlamHeartsSorbet #SmirnoffSorbet

Glamazons,

When I shared my plans for Summer 2013 (which included a trip to New Orleans and this Smirnoff Sorbet summer soiree), it made me think about all the incredible summer memories I’ve had. Looking back over the years, I’ve truly made the most of the warm weather and endless days and nights. There are so many amazing summer memories that I’ll always treasure, and I’m excited to make even more this year.

In honor of Throwback Thursday today (on Instagram…and in life lol), let’s revisit some of those memories, shall we?

1. I rode a camel!

One of my best summer memories is visiting Morocco with my mother and sister and riding a camel for the first time. Yes, I’m in a floral maxidress and wedges (LOL!).

2. I traveled to Spain with my family.

Speaking of that trip, I also swam in the beautiful, clear waters of Southern Spain flanked by breathtaking mountains with one of my favorite people in the world, my sister.

3. I strolled through the French Quarter in New Orleans.

The French Quarter is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the world with its dreamy architecture, delicious food and vibrant nightlife. I enjoyed wandering through the beautiful New Orleans streets hand-in-hand with my love last weekend.

4. I went to a music festival.

Speaking of New Orleans, I’ve never had as much fun as the first music festival I attended over July 4th weekend. I saw Beyonce, Maxwell, Anita Baker and more perform and went sightseeing through the city with my amazing family. It was so much fun that I went back with my friends (above) for three consecutive years.

5. I went to the BET Awards.

Or better known as the time I kiki’d with Kerry Washington. I enjoyed covering the red carpet (even in the sweltering heat), meeting some of my fave celebs (Chaka Khan!) and getting swept up in the electric energy of a live awards show.

6. I spent the day on the beach in Jamaica.

I spent my days in Jamaica lounging under the sun and falling asleep to the sound of the waves, surrounded by the people I love: my Dad, brother and sister. With my beach beauty challenge behind me, all my worries were gone and I truly felt at peace.

7. Brooklyn.

From the B.A.M. Festival to the monthly party at the Brooklyn museum, few summers are as great as Brooklyn summers. My favorite borough comes alive with culture, art, food and beautiful people. I enjoy every moment spent brunching on Dekalb, watching an old movie on the screen at Habana Outpost or partying all night at Brooklyn Bowl.

8. I danced on a rooftop.

We may not have the sprawling fields of the country or the palm trees of let’s say, Miami or L.A., but a rooftop in NYC is a sight to see in the summertime! I’ve spent many a day having cocktails with friends as the sun sets over the gorgeous city skyline. It’s truly one of my favorite things to do once the weather gets warm.

9. I partied on a boat.

I have a thing for boats and sailing (since I was a child). Something about the water and the endless stretches of sky just does it for me. I love sailing over the Hudson and just feeling free and peaceful, while taking in some of my city’s famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the skyline.

10. I celebrated my birthday.

As a summer baby, it’s double the pleasure when you get to celebrate a birthday in beautiful weather. I love to take advantage of the sunshine (even though it rained on the day this year!) and grill outside with my family, brunch with my friends and if I’m lucky, stick my freshly-manicured toes in the pool while sipping a fruity summer cocktail.

Don’t you just love summer, Glamazons? What are some of your favorite summer memories? Tell me in the comments below.

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
