#NYFW: Laquan Smith Fall 2013 Inspired by Lil Kim and Grace Jones’ Strangé

Glamazons, Laquan Smith is in a sexy mood for Fall and I’m not even mad at it. The designer, who has fans in Andre Leon Talley, Lala Anthony, Sessilee Lopez and more, put on a stellar show at New York Fashion Week that didn’t skimp on sex appeal. From a catsuit that seemed tailormade for Grace Jones to adorably playful star printed crop tops and swing skirts, Laquan had sexy down to a science in his newest collection, aptly titled “Bond.”

Here are the deets:

Inspiration: Laquan took inspiration literally from a Bond girl with nods to old school Lil Kim and Grace Jones as Strangé in 90s classic “Boomerang.” The 90s inspiration was most visible in a white skirt that had Laquan Smith plastered throughout in patent leather letters, which brought to mind some of the logo-heavy styles of yesteryear.

Key Pieces: Laquan showed laser-cut leather dresses, mini skirts adorned with metallic embellishment, star-print long sleeve crop tops and high-waisted skirts, dotted ruffle skirts with thigh-high slits, mini dresses with fur trim around the hem and cuff, pops of red color in pointy pumps and a single sheath dress.

*Bonus: The beauty look was modern and stunning with models in updos with hair coiled in a knot at the crown of the head. They wore dark plum lipstick and cool black/white designs on their nails.

Who I Could See Wearing This Collection: Rihanna, Azealia Banks, Lady Gaga, Adrienne Bailon, Eve, Jessica White.
