Oprah Rocks a Natural Hair ‘Fro on the Cover of “O” Magazine
Ahhhh Glamazons I’m getting chills.
It’s one thing for myself and most of my girlfriends to go natural, and even some of my favorite celebrities (hey Tracee Ellis Ross, Nicole Ari Parker, sometimes Jill Scott). But when Mother Oprah gives you a glorious, voluminous, billowing ‘fro, you’ve got to stop breathing, hook yourself up to an IV and get your life!
This is what’s currently happening to me thanks to Mother O’s cover of “O: The Oprah Magazine” where she debuts her natural ‘fro for the first time (now, we still don’t know if that’s just a braid-out or a wig, but it really doesn’t matter because we’re obsessed either way…obvs).
Do you see how she’s just beaming and adorably placing her chin in her hands? She knows she’s everything! Seriously, she makes me want to go back to my bathroom and put some Doo-Gro on my scalp then meditate and pray for a ‘fro that huge. Can you even?!
She opens up about hair in the issue, revealing she goes curly on the weekends (P.S. guess her hairstylist Andre Walker had it all wrong) (P.P.S. what I wouldn’t give to be chatting with her over wine about curls as her dogs play in the yard and Stedmond pours us more drinks). AND she says she almost chopped her hair all off. She didn’t say big chop, but I’m totes imagining that!

“I wanted to wear it close-cropped, à la Camille Cosby, but her husband Bill convinced me otherwise. ‘Don’t do it,’ he said,” she recalls. “‘You’ve got the wrong head shape and you’ll disappoint yourself.’ I took his advice.”
Wrong head shape? Oprah? Is he mad? Oprah would’ve slayed a big chop but judging from the length of her hair, it looks like she transitioned…or she was always natural…? Does anyone know? I have so many questions.
She goes in depth about her hair journey in the September issue of the mag which I’m totally picking up and framing. I haven’t been this excited since that fake picture of Michelle Obama hit the internet.
