GLAM OR SHAM?: Beyonce Rocks Box Braids
Ahhhh! Sorry, that’s me screaming with excitement for Nas‘ “Life Is Good” album launch. (I’m KIND OF a fan). OK, now that’s THAT is out of the way, ask me what I was doing Monday night while my fave rapper of all time and his superstar friends were partying it up at the Moet Rose Lounge in NYC to toast the album release? Oh, flying in from Jamaica, missing all the festivities (NOT that I’m complaining, awesome trip!).
I actually contemplated traveling from JFK airport, where I landed at like 11PM, to the party to take in all the fabulousness. But then, I realized I was crazy so I went home and slept.
If I HAD ventured out though with luggage in tow, Glamazons, I would’ve spotted Beyonce‘s new hairstyle in the flesh. You see, while her hubby Jay-Z and his rival-turned-friend Nas were toasting his glamazing new album, Bey was quietly showing off her fab new locks: blonde box braids.
Remember when her braids looked like this:
The pre-teen Destiny’s Child fan in me is gagging!
Taking (perhaps) a cue from her trend-setting sister Solange, Bey rocked a full head of glorious blonde box braids swept up in a ponytail at the shindig. She wore no makeup save for a berry lip and apparently, was the most down-to-earth, naturally beautiful superstar you ever encountered.
She even managed to turn someone down (actually, it was Fashion Star contestant Orly Shani) when approached for a picture and still created a lifetime fan in the process.

So Beyonce stood off to the side while her man posed for pics. I went up to say Hi and ask for a pic… She smiled wide + said “sorry baby I’m not taking pictures tonight..what’s ur name?” then put her hand out and introduced herself. #classact
Yes Beyonce had long, blonde braids all pulled back in a pony tail. No makeup except a pretty deep berry lip. Gorgeous girl.
I gotta say, I kinda loved how Beyonce stood back, laughing with a friend, while her man enjoyed the spotlight. #strongmarriage
