GLAM OR SHAM?: Meagan Good’s Custom R-Mine Bridal Couture Wedding Gown and Purple Train
Glamazons,
Now this is a wedding gown trend I’ve never seen before that I’m actually excited about it. OK, we’ve seen color wedding gowns (both red and black — so nothing new there) but what about a train dipped in a bold hue? Like ombre hair but for your wedding dress? Actress Meagan Good brought the look to life as she walked down the aisle this weekend to marry Devon Franklin, a Seventh Day Aventist preacher and producer.
The wedding’s colors were purple and gold and Meagan took the theme to an unprecedented level with her custom R-Mine Bridal Couture wedding gown which featured a dipped purple train. According to Necole Bitchie, not everyone was on board with her unconventional bridal look: “At first, she had a hard time convincing designers to dip the train, however she was dead set on dipping it in purple. Of her dress Meagan said, ‘I didn’t want girly, I wanted handsome. It’s got a bit of a masculine feel to it. I wanted something that felt a tad bit rebellious and out of the ordinary. That felt closer to my personality.”
The look is certainly out of the ordinary but I have to admit, it sounds scarier than it actually is. The purple hue is faint and tasteful enough that it truly looks exquisite! It gives the dress a unique and memorable flair, right?
Though Meagan was going for a “masculine feel,” her hair was decidedly feminine with a half-up, half-down style with long, romantic waves accented by a flowing veil. The satin gown also boasted demure lace long sleeves, a deep open back and a mermaid hem.
Overall, Glamazons, this look is beautiful, bold and one-of-a-kind. I say it’s GLAM.
