GLAM OR SHAM?: Rihanna’s L.A. Battleship Premiere Adam Selman Gown She Co-Designed
Glamazons, I’ve seriously been waiting for Rihanna to be a designer since forever. So why am I not impressed with her pieces? The Battleship star graced the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of “Battleship” wearing a gown by Adam Selman which she reportedly co-designed.
The gown is super revealing with a plunging cowlneck neckline (this so reminds me of those blouses everyone wore in the early 2000s), a low-cut back, awkward draping in the front and a thigh-high slit. If anyone can wear it, it’s Rih…
The “Where Have You Been?” singer paired it with bone strappy Manolo Blahnik sandals, gold hoop earrings and red lipstick.
Let me first say: Rihanna is gorgeous and her body slays.
Now that that’s out of the way, the dress is practically falling off of her. Even she told Access Hollywood, “I’ve gotta hold on to my outfit a little tighter than usual!” Girl, that’s a problem.
I get sexy and am all for it (My dress has a slit today, actually. It’s a Friday dress). But there’s something to be said for doing things in moderation. A low neckline, open back and a slit is overkill, no?
Also, haven’t we seen this silhouette before in Rihanna’s Grammy dress which she also designed, that time with Armani?
I remember the Rihanna fashion star that took risks (a la this jumpsuit) and I always imagined her designs being along that vein, not just slinky dresses. Even her sketches for her second collection for Armani seem more inspired than this.
What do you think, Glamazons? Is her dress GLAM or SHAM? Are you impressed by her designs?
