When Did He Wear It Best: Jay-Z’s $195 Givenchy “Jesus is Lord” T-Shirt
While female celebrity Glamazons rarely repeat outfits (except for maybe a hot jacket a la Kim Kardashian), it seems like if guys love a piece, they’ll wear it again and again (cue Kanye West). Jay-Z certainly subscribes to that way of thinking as he just LOVES his Givenchy “Jesus is Lord” t-shirt we blogged about here.
Jay wore the tee in November 2011 while leaving his Tribeca apartment he shares with Beyonce during the Watch The Throne tour (Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci also did artwork for Watch The Throne singles and album cover).
He styled it with black sweatpants, a black shearling jacket and a pair of Air Jordan Retro 3′s on his feet.
He also rocked it in December 2010 while on holiday with his beautiful wife in Perth, Australia.
Remember that infamous picture of Beyonce without makeup stepping on the hotel balcony?
Yep, Jay-Z was in his Givenchy tee.
In March 2011, Jay-Z wore the tee again to catch the New Jersey Nets vs. Los Angeles Clippers game courtside.
For the festivities, he sported the tee with dark denim jeans, a gold chain and Timberland boots.
And what do you know? He rocked it against last night at Erica Reid‘s “The Thriving Child” book launch, which he attended with Mary J. Blige and wife Beyonce (who wowed in this dress).
This time, he paired the tee with black jeans, a dark denim jacket and a gold link chain.
The black t-shirt, which retails for $195, features a likeness of Jesus colored in fiery hues like red, orange and yellow with the phrase “Jesus is Lord” emblazoned across the front.
We know Givenchy is a favorite of the Knowles-Carter clan as Beyonce just wore a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown to the 2012 Met gala on Monday night. We guess Tuesday was her husband’s turn. (When is Blue Ivy‘s? Kidding…)
Friend Kanye West also wore the white version of the Givenchy ‘Jesus is Lord’ tee to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2010 with rock band 30 Second To Mars.
‘Ye is a Givenchy fanatic posing with Riccardo Tisci in Vogue and wearing the designer to the 2012 Met Gala as well.
