Handle Your Scandal: Did Anna Wintour Ban Kim Kardashian from The Met Gala?
You know Queen Anna Wintour has her favorites and apparently, Kim Kardashian didn’t make that list. Rumors are swirling that the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was prohibited from attending the 2012 Met Gala at the behest of Anna herself.
According to Radar Online, “Anna hates Kim,” a source says. [My note: sideeye at "source."] Why would she be invited to the event? It is all the biggest stars in the world and Kim doesn’t fit that bill at all…The Met Gala is $25,000 a ticket, but Kim can’t even buy her way in, Anna Wintour does NOT want her there!” Ouch.

Aww. This is so like not being asked to prom. The Radar Online ”source” assumes Kim will come up with an excuse for why she wasn’t there: “Kim and her camp will deny that she wasn’t invited by saying that she had business in L.A., but that is a lie,” the source says. “She would’ve done anything to be there with all the A-listers.”
Truthfully, guys, the ban doesn’t seem too far-fetched. For one, if there was no ban, Kanye West could’ve just brought her as his guest. There are a slew of non-famous ‘significant others’ that attend the Met Gala all the time. But…you can’t be a plus one if you’re on Anna’s bad side.
Secondly, Anna Wintour hasn’t asked Kim Kardashian to cover Vogue or even appear in an issue. It looks like she doesn’t have any plans to do so in the future either if this “source” is to be believed: “Anna Wintour would allow Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue over her dead body,” the source says. “As long as Anna in charge you will NOT see Kim on Vogue.”
This is plausible because when Anna decides she likes you, you appear in Vogue (see Lala Anthony, Kanye West and Amare Stoudemire) then you’re invited to the Met Gala (all three were). That’s the way it goes. No country for Kim Kardashian, though.
Why the snub? Maybe it’s the sex tape reality star fame that Queen Anna Wintour isn’t fond of. Whatever the case, it’s a bit odd that Kim Kardashian can get into the White House Correspondents Dinner but not The Met Gala, right?
