White House Correspondents Dinner Fashion Round-Up: Michelle Obama in Naeem Khan, Kim Kardashian in Johanna Johnson and More!
The stars played dress-up for the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, April 28th and Glamazons, you know I was loving every second of it! Even as I gave a secretive (okay, kind of public) sideeye to Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan‘s appearances, I was excited to see their looks. Why? Because an evening with the President kind of necessitates that even party girls clean up their act. And to my delight, both ladies did their best to look demure. They couldn’t compete with Mrs. Michelle Obama, though. Because that class radiates from within. #YesShade. Let’s get to their looks, shall we?
Michelle Obama was the picture of elegance in a Naeem Khan organza gown that felt like Spring. She kept the light and airy theme going by wearing her hair in a wispy bob and adding a bit of gloss for shine on the lips. Need I even say it? GLAM.
Kim Kardashian traded in her more sassy looks for an emerald green, velvet Johanna Johnson gown with a high neckline, open back and train.
The gown was accented by Swarovski crystal details on the waistline and about her shoulders. She completed the look with a braided high bun. GLAM.
Lindsay Lohan, sigh, did her best in a black halter gown with a train and a decent helping of side boob.
She went for a red lip and strawberry blonde locks to accent the gown and subtle jewelry. This looks like Jessica Rabbit goes to prom. SHAM.
Eva Longoria showed off her perfect gams in a white Marchesa embroidered dress, black Brian Atwood pumps and a white studded clutch by Emilio Pucci. GLAM.
Mary J. Blige hit the red carpet in a fitted black dress with sparkling detail along the sheer neckline. She accessorized with a black clutch and red suede platform pumps. Lurve her smoky eyeshadow and platinum blonde curls though I would’ve preferred black shoes with this look. Still GLAM.
Reese Witherspoon dressed her baby bump in a black Monique Lhuillier gown with an exquisite off shoulder, strappy neckline that brought attention to her gorgeous arms. My favorite part of this look is her turquoise drop earrings and retro blonde waves. Very modern yet elegant and classic. GLAM.
Chrissy Teigen was as beautiful as ever in a red Balenciaga gown beside fiancee John Legend. GLAM.
Rosario Dawson showed off a bit of cleavage in a green mermaid gown with a plunging neckline. Love her but hate how the racy neckline competes with her hair. This is not one of her greatest moments. SHAM.
Ginnifer Goodwin was a vision of beauty in, get this, a H&M gown! The sleeveless gown boasts a high neckline, a black belted waist and a glorious ruffle skirt. A razor-sharp cut and fire-engine red lips completed her stunning look. GLAM.
Kate Hudson dazzled in a shimmering Jenny Packham long-sleeve purple gown with the most statuesque silhouette. Her sophisticated blond updo and black Edie Parker clutch were the perfect accents. GLAM.
Claire Danes wore a white silk Vivienne Westwood halter gown (seen above at an afterparty) that was pleading desperately for a steamer. Where’s a decent stylist when you need one? SHAM.
Does Kerry Washington EVER get it wrong? The Scandal star wore a peach long-sleeve Calvin Klein gown with a flirty neckline, offset by a black and white Roger Vivier clutch, Dean Harris earrings, Finn rings, Reed Krakoff pumps and soft peach makeup. GLAM SLAM!
Oh, hey Alicia Keys! The “Unthinkable” singer wore a mustard Diane von Furstenberg dress with studded detail around the neckline, a matching belt and black tights and Valentino peeptoes. This was just way too casual for such a glamourous event. Neither GLAM nor SHAM but MEH.
Sofia Vergara wore a David Meister Signature strapless cocktail dress with embroidered details on the waistline and a pleated skirt. She finished her look with Christian Louboutin peeptoe pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. I would’ve loved to see something more sophisticated and mature on Sofia; this silhouette is better suited for a Sweet Sixteen party. SHAM.
Guys, Dakota Fanning slays! She wore a metallic long-sleeve Prada gown with beautiful embroidery and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. GLAM.
Charlize Theron was stunning in a lace long-sleeve Pucci dress with an open back.
A sleek bun, diamond stud earrings, Manolo Blahnik sandals and a Judith Leiber clutch completed her look. GLAM.
Viola Davis glowed in a red Amsale one-shoulder gown and sparkling De Beers jewelry. She is exquisite. GLAM!
Rashida Jones was pretty and feminine in a Tory Burch printed peplum gown, wispy bangs and red lips. This is such a quirky take on red carpet glamour. GLAM.
Zooey Deschanel was darling in a strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with metallic accents and Christian Louboutin pumps. Her red lipstick and long, flowing locks complimented the gown perfectly. GLAM.
The gowns were quite entertaining, and so were the jokes! President Barack Obama called out Kim Kardashian, joking backstage: “Seriously guys, what am I doing here? I’m the president of the United States and I’m opening for Jimmy Kimmel? I have the nuclear codes. Why am I telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian? Why is she famous anyway? That’s it. Next year, we send Biden.” Too funny!
He also shouted out rapper Young Jeezy, saying: “In my first term, I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy.” I can’t wait for that!
Jimmy Kimmel was just as hilarious! He teased Kim, telling President Barack Obama: “If you’re looking for the biggest threat to America right now, she’s sitting right there. Her name is Kim Kardashian. When you took office, the Kardashians had one reality show — now they have four. This is not a good trend.” LOL!

President Barack and Michelle Obama seemed throughly entertained…
…which means it was a fabulous night!
What do you think of the gowns? Who was GLAM and who was a SHAM?
