GLAM SCOOP: Rihanna Covers Friday Magazine, Whitney Houston Sparkle Trailer, Solange for Complex Magazine

Ugh Glamazons, I’m having the dreariest day thanks to a stomachache. Sigh and sideeye. Anyway, I hope your day is better and you’re excited and energized for the week! What I’m looking forward to is all the editor appointments (I will get to see Laquan Smith‘s pieces up, close and personal this week) and the impending sample sales (my friends are already emailing for spots!). Before I run around the city feeding my fashion addiction though, I’ve got today’s fashion and beauty news.

This weekend, while Michelle Obama was slaying at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and Rihanna was dying her hair black, Mattel announced a bald Barbie! Plus we’ve got a ton of fabulous fashion shoots…and a first look at the trailer for Whitney Houston‘s final movie Sparkle. Let’s get to the scoop!

Mattel Releases A Bald Barbie, Bratz Dolls To Follow

Glamazons, as some very important people in my life have battled with cancer, this news bit is especially touching to me. Mattel has announced they will be releasing a Bald Barbie! As many of you know, the doll is a response to a stellar Facebook campaign started by Rebecca Sypin and Jane Bingham to convince Mattel to release a hairless version of the doll to appeal to doll lovers battling with cancer and alopecia.

The doll will be donated to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and distributed at Children’s Hospitals. Similarly, a bald Bratz doll will be available for purchase in June. [Oh No They Didn't]

Rihanna Covers Friday Magazine

A blonde Rihanna (she’s now jet black, in case you didn’t know) graces the cover of Friday Magazine, where she is referred to as a “kick-ass girl.” Love it! She’s so taking natural beauty to another lev. [Rihanna Daily]

Khloe Kardashian Covers Cosmo

Everyone’s favorite Kardashian covers the May 2012 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine. How cool is it that they describe Khloe Kardashian as “ballsy” on the cover?

Salma Hayek is GORG for Lucky Magazine

Salma Hayek gets infinitely more gorgeous as she gets older it seems and her May 2012 cover of Lucky Magazine is proof of that. It’s also refreshing to learn that with her movie star good looks (glowing skin, doe eyes, huge boobs, petite frame), she battled with acne as a young adult:

“You want to talk about bad skin? I had acne. And this acne was so bad it sent me into severe, severe depression. Like I couldn’t leave the house. The next stage with that sort of depression is food – too little or too much. Guess what I did?… I was fat and broken out. I couldn’t leave the house and I couldn’t pay the rent!”

I could never see Salma as a fat, acne-ridden young adult, seeing as how she’s physically perfect and all, but love that she shared that. If only she’d share her workout plan too… [Lucky Magazine]

Beyonce Covers Glamour Netherlands

Beyonce was kind enough to let another magazine capture her flawless skin, fabulous makeup and flowing weave. Glamour Netherlands features the pop star on the cover. Yes, the photo is old but that won’t stop us from gushing over King Bey and speculating on whether she was pregnant during the shoot. That glow gives me Blue Ivy six months in. [Fashion Gone Rogue]

Solange Knowles for Complex Magazine

Auntie Solange Knowles appears in Complex Magazine‘s 10th Anniversary Issue, in a feature where she is referred to as the “trillest member of the Knowles clan.” That kind of makes my life.

Styled by Peju Famojure, Sol Angel rocks a Kenzo top, Margarita Sapala skirt, Uncommon Matters bracelets, Push by PushMataaha earrings and Linda Farrow vintage shades (below). Check the magazine for her other fashion credits.

In the profile, she reveals that she loves Chrissy Lampkin from VH1′s Love & Hip Hop and that she may leave Brooklyn for Europe. Check out some excerpts:

I’d rather be submissive than dominant. Strong, independent women share this sentiment of wanting to be taken over sexually behind closed doors. It’s the natural balance for a woman like me.

I’d rather live in the U.S. than Europe. I talk shit about the American way, and how much more together Europe is as a society, but traveling as much as I have, there are lots of things I appreciate about home. I plan on living in Europe at some point, but for now I’m good in Brooklyn.

I’d rather be on the cast of Love & Hip-Hop than Project Runway. I’ve never seen Project Runway, but I’m a huge Chrissy [Love & Hip-Hop star Christine Lampkin] fan. I’d need to take boxing lessons from her first though, nahmean?

I’d rather be the cool aunt than the authoritative aunt. The closer my sister came to motherhood, the more stern she was with my son, Julez, but when he was between the ages of 1 and 4, she put the s in spoiling. I had to deal with the cool aunt for seven years, and I’m ready for payback! Late nights, candy binges—I’m doing it all!

I’d rather be the protector than the protected. I’m naturally the protector—being a mother and having a famous family. You have to navigate when it’s right to protect. I’ve made mistakes, but just know, if you step to me and mine, me and Chrissy gon’ have to fuck you up.

And a behind-the-scenes video:

Katy Perry’s New Adidas Ads

The Photoshop monster seems to have attacked Katy Perry and spit her up alive for new Adidas ads. Katy is snapped running around the park for the campaign and while the rest of us experience sweat while doing such activities, Katy’s skin seems to have turned to plastic. Sigh. [Styleite]

Is That Mary J. Blige Singing About Burger King Chicken?

My soul aches. Watch here. [Rolling Out]

Reggie Bush Is A Skincare Spokesperson Now

There are some athletes that may be exceptional at their sport but would make better boyfriends models in my head: Chris Paul, for example. Reggie Bush (aka Kim Kardashian‘s ex) is totes that kind of guy. Lucky for me, someone must have convinced him as much because the Miami Dolphins running back is now the national spokesperson for Barc Skincare. About the new gig, Regina (as Khloe used to call him) said: “I’m a huge fan of Barc’s skincare line and I’m looking forward to helping men discover how easy it is to experience smooth skin every day.” Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let’s just hope more shirtless pics come of this. [WWD]

Guys, Whitney Houston looks so beautiful in the trailer for her last film, Sparkle. Check out the video above of a teaser for the film, which remakes the classic 1976 movie and also stars Jordin Sparks and Tika Sumpter. I plan to hit the movies with my girlfriends to watch this when it comes out in August and tear up frequently while doing so. [iluluonline]

Until tomorrow!
