Clutching My Pearls: The Exposed Breast Trend like Melody Thornton, Cynthia Bailey, Rihanna and Keri Hilson
Glamazons,
I don’t think of myself as reserved and conservative in any sense of the word. I love trends, relish in showing off my figure (in the summer!) and am all for edgy, risky, bold expressionism. But there are moments in fashion when even I have to clutch my pearls.
Almost a year ago, I was clutching my pearls over the prevalence of nippies (nipple covers) in celebrities’ wardrobes (remember: Lady Gaga LIVED in them). This new trend, however, makes nippies look like turtlenecks. I’m talking about the exposed breast trend spotted on such Glamazons as Rihanna, Cynthia Bailey, Melody Thornton and Keri Hilson.
Stars have forgone nipple covers (and bras for that matter) altogether and are walking around with their breasts completely exposed underneath sheer fabric.
What’s next? No shirt at all?
I’m sure it feels invigorating to have your breasts out (I actually dread bras…though I wear them) but shouldn’t that be reserved for nude beaches, the comfort of your home and umm, strip clubs?
June Ambrose warned about your breasts swinging low like chariots if you don’t put them in a bra so there’s that. But I guess while they’re high in the sky, why not show them off? ::Shudders::
What do you think about this trend, Glamazons? Are you clutching your pearls like me? Or would you rock it without a care in the world? Discuss.
Kisses,
Glamazon Jessica
