GLAM SCOOP: Snooki and Jessica Simpson’s Pregnant Covers, Alexander Wang Denies Sweatshop Claims, Whitney Houston For Ebony Magazine

Hey Glamazons!

Hope your Hump Day is simply ah-mazing! Mine will end fabulously as I’m hitting the Marni for H&M pre-shopping event tonight. Follow me on Twitter for all the tea on how the pieces fit and which items I end up snagging. I have my eye on those gorgeous necklaces and that circle print trench. What beauts! What are you picking up from the collection?

While I wait in breathless anticipation for tonight, let’s indulge in the fashion and beauty tea for today. Rumors have been shut down, magazines are paying homage to fallen icons and the world will soon have a mini-guido/ette! Here’s the Scoop!

Snooki is Engaged and Having a Mini-Guido/dette

It seems like everyone’s having babies these days and of course, an accompanying magazine cover goes with a celebrity pregnancy (except for Beyonce who prefers music videos as the platform of choice on which to rub her bump). Snooki, my fave Jersey Shore girl (don’t judge – I love short girls with big personalities) announced she is engaged and having a baby with her BF Jionni.

Awww! Snooki has already promised to ditch her hard-partying ways and nothing says lifestyle change like a little Guido/dette to take care of. So happy for her…but couldn’t we have left her adorable chubby face un-photoshopped on that cover, Us Magazine? [iluluonline]

Alexander Wang Denies Sweatshop Rumors

Alexander Wang is one of my favorites so I am shocked to hear his employees are suing the company for $50 million due to poor working conditions. (SMH that this comes after the Marc Jacobs model debacle, what is up with fashion companies?!). The suing employees even went so far as to refer to the company headquarters as a “sweatshop” and claimed they suffered work-related health ailments after 25-hour work days. Umm, can you imagine working for 25 hours straight? I thought my February schedule was bad! Wang quickly spoke up to deny the rumors, telling WWD:

The company takes its obligations to comply with the law very seriously, including the relevant wage and hour regulations, the payment of overtime to eligible employees and having a safe working environment for all of our employees. We will vehemently defend any allegations to the contrary.

Wow, I hope these allegations are untrue and at best, this case is a wake-up call to the fashion industry to comply with labor laws and respect their workers. [WWD]

Hedi Slimane In at YSL

The lastest in fashion’s neverending game of musical chairs? Stefano Pilati is out at Yves Saint Laurent and Hedi Slimane will be stepping in as Creative Director. Slimane was the director of Menswear at YSL until 2000 so this marks a return to the fashion house, who released a statement about how thrilled they are to bring him in. Via Fashionista:

“Hedi Slimane’s exceptional talent and understanding of the spirit of Yves Saint Laurent heralds a promising new chapter in the story of the maison”, said Paul Deneve, Chief Executive Officer of Yves Saint Laurent. François-Henri Pinault, PPR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, added, “As one of the most important French fashion houses, Yves Saint Laurent today possesses formidable potential, which I am confident will be successfully harnessed and revealed through the vision of Hedi Slimane.”

Exciting! We will get to see Slimane’s amazing premiere designs for YSL’s Resort collection in June. [Beauty Is Diverse]

Jessica Simpson Naked and Pregnant for ELLE

Guys, I think Jessica Simpson is the most adorable preggers woman. The soon-to-be Mom always looks so cute stumbling around with that huge baby bump. She brings her cuteness to the April 2012 issue of ELLE Magazine with the standard pregnant nude celebrity cover (will we be DONE with pregnant nude covers, ever?) and an alternate cover in a sleek red Narciso Rodriguez dress. Cayute!

Love what that pregnancy is doing for her hair and skin. Can you say GLOW? Werque, Jess. She also reveals she’ll back on TV soon and is having a little girl. Awww. [ELLE]

Kim Kardashian Debuts True Reflection Fragrance Ad

No matter what your opinion of Kim Kardashian, you have to admit that woman stays with a beat face! She showed off her makeup artist’s superb skills for her new True Reflection fragrance ad. THOSE. BROWS! I live for this makeup look, Glamazons. To celebrate the debut of her third scent, Kim will host a party with Dress For Success and for $180 a ticket, attendees will get to say they partied with Kim, signed bottle of True Reflection and a True Reflection Nicole by OPI nail lacquer. Kim will donate $110 from every ticket to the cause. How selfless of her! [PeopleStyleWatch]

Whitney Houston for Ebony Magazine

Ebony Magazine has dedicated their April 2012 issue to the late Whitney Houston, providing another book to add to my collection of commemorative Whitney Houston magazines. This cover, however, touched me the most from Whitney’s radiant picture to the beautiful cover line, “Whitney Forever.” Indeed, Ebony. Can’t wait to tape this on my bedroom wall (old school 90s style!).

Also, a preview from Bobbi Kristina‘s interview with Oprah, taking place this Sunday, March 11th at 9P/8C has hit the web. I haven’t been able to watch (no country for tears at work) but feel free to take a look:

Are you tuning in this Sunday for the full interview, Glamazons? [Huffington Post/Clutch Magazine]

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
