#PFW: Kanye West Fall 2012

Glamazons, can I admit I want Kanye West to win? After listening to his music, and loving it, for eons and respecting his creativity as manifested in music, performances, his own outfits, a film and even a legendary Twitter rant, I just knew he could deliver a decent womenswear collection.

And guys, he may have just done it with his Fall 2012 offering, the second collection from his eponymous line. Kanye seemed to pay careful attention to criticism from his debut collection ranging from a precarious fit to off-season materials (like fur…in the Spring). This time, he presented a reasonably well-fitting and weather-appropriate line. It wasn’t groundbreaking (there were a few missteps) but it was edgy, chic and wearable. Most importantly, it was cohesive and created a clear attitude and point-of-view. And for that, I applaud him. Let’s get into the line, shall we?

Inspiration:

No formal statement yet (though I’d LOVE to hear it) but the collection was super dark and moody with a focus on trends (leather, velvet, ruffles, fur) and a lot of attitude in knee-length strapped boots that we are prepared to suffer for.

Key Pieces:

Leather galore! Backless jackets, leggings and skirts with a lone ruffle about the hem got a new edgy attitude in the tough luxe material. Even turtleneck dresses as worn by Jourdan Dunn got a dominatrix spin.

Fur emerged as a motif (no surprise there) emerging on jackets thrown over the shoulder for that effortless flair.

A top with a sheer neckline and fur bodice did render a head-scratching moment as did an ill-fitting peach cape dress with a plunging neckline a model had to keep closed with her hands.

Oh, and after our guide to sheer, we saw a sheer turtleneck dress on Joan Smalls with black alligator detail covering the front that we’re sure we’ll land some innocent celebrity in the glambulance.

As for accessories, the leather neck wraps were total Kanye fantasy and we spied those fur backpacks (he’s really trying to make those happen, sigh). However, the luxe flap bags were SICK especially in all black.

But…the REAL star? The SHOES! Knee-length boots with straps adorning the front might be hard to walk in but they are indeed “sexy as f*ck” cue Jourdan Dunn.

Who I Could See Wearing This Collection:

Rihanna, Kim Kardashian (who rocked Kanye’s $6,000 shoes from last season to the show), Angela Simmons and the Olsen twins may get all rockstar edgy on us in this collection.

Front Row:

Kim Kardashian, Big Sean, Diddy, Alicia Keys, Rosario Dawson, Azealia Banks, Cassie, Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley all came out to support Kanye’s Fall collection unveiling.

What do you think of Kanye’s second offering?

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
