GLAM SCOOP: Altuzarra for J.Crew, Solange Knowles for American Beauty, PETA Responds to Khloe Kardashian

Glamazons,

Hope you’re having the most fabulous week. I am in allergy hell and giving a vicious sideeye to the bi-polar New York City weather (is it Winter or Spring? I mean, really?). Luckily, I have my new neon pumps from Aldo to bring me major happiness and I think I’ll be grabbing the floral wedges too after seeing Glamazon Channing‘s shopping guide. Speaking of shoe lust, we’ve got June Ambrose‘s Stiletto workout (EPIC!) plus new designer collaborations, PETA drama and more in today’s scoop! Let’s get to it!

Nicki Minaj Covers Seventeen South Africa

Nicki Minaj is beautiful, fresh-faced and colorful for the cover of Seventeen South Africa. Love the innocence and energy of this cover but nothing beats a black-and-white striped tongue. [Nicki Minaj Twitter]

Altuzarra for J.Crew

Ahmazing news! Altuzarra is doing a collection for J.Crew. The brainchild of former Givenchy assistant, Joseph Altuzarra, the Altuzarra line is heralded for its exquisite feathery red carpet gowns, elegant draping and streamlined basics! Don’t you love that Altuzarra dress Chanel Iman has on?

Even Anna Wintour loves it as Altuzarra was the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner. Hopefully, the J.Crew collection will be delivering allll of Altuzarra’s modern, elegant aesthetic (and let’s also hope it’s affordable unlike J.Crew’s Manolo Blahnik collaboration). Are you excited for the capsule collection? More deets to come! [Fashionista]

June Ambrose’s Stiletto Workout!

Could June Ambrose BE any more perfect? Actually, she can with the TV debut of her infamous Stiletto Workout (which WE’VE loved since forever. PROOF) on Styled by June. She worked her magic on Trina with the stiletto workout, which is so great the video of it makes MY legs hurt:

P.S. was her transformation of Trina not everything? [Necole Bitchie]

Pinterest Bans #Thinspo Boards

Pinterest is like the best thing in my life as I catch myself going Pinsane every Saturday morning whenever I get a free moment. As Glamazon Channing explained, it’s basically like a virtual vision board of whatever you’re obsessed with (my boards include Shoe-gasms and sunsets) – and it turns out some users are obsessed with…anorexia? Pinboards with jutting bones and disturbing pro-anorexia sayings kept popping up, and Pinterest released a statement Friday evening that they will ban such content from the site. Kudos. [Styleite]

Khloe Kardashian vs. PETA

After sister Kim Kardashian was flour bombed by a PETA activist “woman with close ties to PETA,” Khloe Kardashian has decided to cut ties with the org. She writes on her blog:

“Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behavior…I’ve been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me. As you all know, I don’t condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that.”

Don’t mess with her sister, yall. And of course, PETA clapped back (Rihanna voice):

“We appreciate that Khloé will remain on the animals’ side by not wearing fur – that’s what counts. If one of our volunteers is responsible, it doesn’t alter the fact that no animal deserves to be electrocuted, shot, or poisoned for a bit of fur clothing. Khloé is just defending her sister, and we know she has a good heart, so we wish her well. We just wish she also had more influence on her sister.” That last sentence of shade… [People]

Solange Knowles, Joan Smalls and Jenna Lyons for American Beauty

More proof it’s Joan Smalls‘ year? The model is featured along with Solange Knowles, Jenna Lyons and Lily Adridge in American Beauty, a portfolio by photographer and Vogue alumna Claiborne Swanson Frank which profiles 100 quintessentially American women.

Beautiful, right? A brief profile of each beauty accompanies the photo.

Here’s Solange’s:

“I was brought up in Texas going to rodeos and sifting through screw tapes. I spent family reunions in Alabama and Louisiana with my Creole cousins cooking some of the best crawfish etouffee you’ve ever had in your life. I raised my son the first year of his life in the country fields on Idaho, and took him to his first day of school in sunny California. As a New Yorker, I’m excited to continue my journey as an American woman. This country is the fabric of my life’s journey.”

Vogue Mom Who Put 7 Year-Old On Diet Lands Book Deal

Dara-Lyn Weiss, the mother who wrote an article for Vogue about putting her 7 year-old child on an insane diet (and setting the child up for a lifetime of therapy in the process) is coming out with a book. Raise your hand if you won’t be reading it. [The Cut Blog]

Real vs. Fake Natural Hair Drama?

So as you guys know, I went natural and decided to rock a weave and wigs while I grow my hair out. What’s the big deal? Apparently, folks have a problem with naturals rocking weave and friend to the blog, Christina Brown of LoveBrownSugar explores the phenomenon in a brilliant article for Refinery29, which includes profiles of some brave weave-wearers. Love it! *Runs Fingers Through Fake Hair.* [Refinery29]

Until tomorrow!

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
