GLAM SCOOP: Rihanna’s Fashion Reality Show, Beth Ditto for MAC, H&M Stealing Designs?
Good afternoon, Glamazons! I hope you’re having the most glamazing day. Luckily today is my “Friday” and I have a beautiful 3-day weekend ahead of me. I have no plans as of yet but something fun and exciting will come about. It always does.
For now, I have your daily dose of fashion and beauty news! Let’s go!
Rihanna to Produce Fashion Reality Show?
In case you didn’t get the memo, Rihanna is pretty much a fashion and style phenom right now. We’ve seen her collection with Armani and her amazing red-carpet wardrobe. So news of Rihanna being the executive producer behind a fashion reality show comes as no surprise. She recently signed a deal with UK’s Sky Living Network to executive produce a fashion reality competition and will search Britain to find talented undiscovered designers. Here’s her obligatory quote about fashion:
“I’ve always had a great love of fashion. It’s a constant source of inspiration in my life, and is a big reason why I’ve grown into the person and artist I am today.”
Are you excited for her show, Glamazons? [Huffington Post]
FIRST LOOK! Rihanna’s Battleship Poster
While we are on the topic of Rih, here’s a first look at her poster to promote her new movie, Battleship! The movie is due out in April. Doesn’t Rihanna look hot? Aren’t you beyond excited to see her on the big screen? [That Grape Juice]
H&M Is Accused of Stealing a Designer’s Work
It seems as though H&M‘s cool “You Look Nice Today” design isn’t so original after all. The design, which appears on clothes and home products at H&M, reportedly was the brainchild of Tori LaConsay, who painted it in 2008. Of course, Tori is pretty outraged that a fashion giant has stolen his work. Here is H&M’s response:
“We employ an independent team of over 100 designers. We can assure you that this design has not been influenced by your work and that no copyright has been infringed.”
Hmm is “inspired” the new word for straight-up copying? H&M seems to be passing the buck to their designers, noting they’re “investigating” the matter. Sigh and sideeye. [Fashionista]
Victoria’s Secret Launches High-End Line
Victoria’s Secret recently launched a designer collection filled with an arrangement of sexy little things. The collection will be retailing from $98 to $218, and is to-die-for!
Working at Victoria’s Secret got me through my college years and I fell in love with the brand. Needless to say, I plan to fully indulge in this gorg collection. What about you, Glamazons? Will you be splurging on Victoria’s Secret Designer Collection? [The Fashion Bomb]
Leighton Meester for Glamour Magazine
Blair Waldorf Leighton Meester graces the February issue of the Italian edition of Glamour Magazine. Doesn’t she look glamorous and like so much fun? She’s totally my best friend in my head so I love this shot of her, though a Gossip Girl-worthy ensemble would’ve taken it to the next level. What do you think of her cover? [Fashion Gone Rogue]
Breaking: High Heels Damage Feet
I’m going to take this with a grain of salt because for one, I LOVE my pumps and two, I have no idea who this guy is. But Australian researcher Neil Cronin decided to study women’s feet who wear high heels on the daily and has come to the conclusion that high heels do major damage to feet. Didn’t we already know that fact…and umm, decide to disregard it? [Stylite]
Beth Ditto X MAC
MAC Cosmetics has recently announced it’s latest collaboration and it’s with singer and plus-size designer, Beth Ditto. I live for Beth’s attitude and funky fashion sense so I can’t wait for this collection, which promises to be colorful and bold. Are you going to pick up Beth’s new line? [WWD]
Rachel Zoe for Love Magazine
Whoa. Rachel Zoe has tapped into her inner vampire for Love Magazine. Love to see Rach in front of the camera. She truly is a fashion darling. Fierce!! Are you feeling this, Glamazons? [StyleCaster]
