Kanye West Announces His New Design Company for Creators and Thinkers Named DONDA

Hip Hop superstar and fashion designer Kanye West took to his Twitter page (@KanyeWest) to announce his new design company DONDA which he named after his late mother Donda West (and which became a worldwide trending topic last night).

DONDA will be a place to “galvanize amazing thinkers and put them in a creative space to bounce [their] dreams and idea.” Kanye is currently in the process of assembling a dream team of journalists, publicists, A&R’s, managers, architectures, designers (tech, auto, fashion), accountants, nutritionists and more for his new company which will be comprised of over 22 divisions with a goal to make products and experiences that people desire and will be able to afford. Glamazing, right?

Here’s what Kanye had to say about his mission and vision for DONDA:

“We want to help simplify and aesthetically improve everything we see hear, touch, taste and feel. To dream of, create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need.. To marry our wants and needs.”

Wow. And here’s a sneak peak at the 7-screen experience project he’s been working on for DONDA called “2016 Olympics.” It’s a sci-fi feature that is apparently set for release later on this year.

Kanye West has always had an innovative and overwhelmingly creative aesthetic. Almost everything he touches turns to gold and his work only gets better with time. It comes as no surprise that he wants to provide opportunities for other extraordinary and creative minds with his new company and experiment with new technologies and experiences to, as he said, “pick up where Steve Jobs left off.”

I can’t wait to get the full details on DONDA and see his vision come to life. I’m excited to see it all unfold! And based on his tweets, we can certainly expect major things from Kanye in 2012 as he continues to develop his Kanye West Fashion Line and DONDA all while creating new music.
