GLAM SCOOP: Blue Ivy Carter’s Million Dollar Toys, Lady Gaga Buys Knockoffs and Andre Leon Talley vs. Ron Paul
Good Afternoon, Glamazons. I hope you are all having a glamazing day. Can you believe New York Fashion Week is only three weeks away? So excited!! Stay tuned for all the deets from the front row and backstage here on The Glamazons!
As usual, I have your daily dose of fashion and beauty news. Let’s go!
Blue Ivy Carter Already Living The Fabulous Life
From what we’ve been hearing it looks like Blue Ivy Carter‘s closet and lifestyle will be putting Skyler Morrison‘s to shame. Rumor has it that parents Beyonce and Jay-Z, who recently dedicated the song, “Glory,” to his newborn, has spent well over 1.5 million dollars on Blue including: $600,000 on a solid-gold handmade horse from Japanese jeweler Ginza Tanaka, $20,000 on a coach-like crib from PoshTots and $15,000 on a highchair dripping with Swarovski crystals. Anyone else hoping to get adopted by Jay and Bey? [NY Mag]
Sunday Was No Pants Day On The Subway. Would You Participate?
Sunday was “No Pants Subway Ride” in NYC. Yes, we’re serious. Fortunately, I was not a participant in the shenanigans that took place with pants-less subway riders but I am amused. Glamazons, have you or would you ever agree to ride the subway with no pants on? And who came up with this mess? [The Gloss]
Whitney Port to Host Her Own Fashion Show This Season
For the first time since launching her line Whitney Eve, Whitney Port is taking it to the tents for her first-ever New York Fashion Week show organized by People’s Revolution. The show, which she will also be hosting, will be take place on February 15th at Lincoln center.
“My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show,” Port said in a press release. “I am so excited to show on schedule as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and can’t wait to show my new Fall collection on the runway.”
Congrats, Whitney! I’m sure the collection will be fabulous as always. [Fashionista]
Andre Leon Talley Gets Political on Twitter, Dislikes Ron Paul
Andre Leon Talley is not at all happy with the the New Hampshire Primary, expressing his frustration and views on Twitter last night. Take a look at a few of his tweets below:
“Ron Paul would have owned slaves if he lived in another time. He did not vote for Martin Luther King Jr.’s annual holiday. Dangerous he is.”
“Beware of libertarian Ron Paul, he to me is a man who represents the old Southern degenerates of non Civil Rights. He is not a conservative”
“Super Steve Schmidt on MSNBC as Repbulican voice, instead of white supremacist Pat Buchanan. What happened to him. Hopefully they let him GO”
Well, we love a fashionisto with a brain. Glamazons, do you agree with Andre’s views? Do you think he should express them on Twitter or stick to Fashion? [Andre Leon Talley Twitter]
Lindsay Lohan for Philipp Plein
Lindsay Lohan has once again proven you can’t keep a bad girl down. The actress/model is featured in Philipp Plein‘s campaign for his Spring 2012 collection, and looks surprisingly chic. She’s still got it! What do you think of the campaign, Glamazons? Is her career finally back on track? [NY Mag]
Gaga Buys Knockoff Deisgners?
Lady Gaga recently spoke to fans in Tokyo encouraging them to spend within their budget and not waste their life savings on a designer purchase. Funny coming from someone who lives in Chanel and Versace but most of those pieces are gifted (and she can afford them anyway) so she does have a point.
That’s not all. She even admitted to owning a few of her fake designer items. Here’s what she had to say:
“In Tokyo, they have all these stores that have fake Chanel and Versace,” she said. “And I’m an Italian from New York, so I still buy it. This jacket is a fake.”
