My Natural Hair Holiday Wishlist: Miss Jessie’s Quick Curl, MoroccanOil, Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner and More!

Photobucket

Glamazons, can you believe this time last year I made the decision to do away with my relaxer and go natural? Is it me or did the year FLY by?

I’m so happy and excited and full and blessed that almost 365 days later, I still feel I made the right decision. My curly hair really fits my personality and is more versatile than I imagined (I can totes go from straight to wavy to curly depending on my mood).

The texture and look of my hair is as beautiful as ever. It’s thick, soft, shiny, full and growing like a weed. I just love playing with it, and everyone in my life seems to feel the same, lol. (What is it about touching natural hair?)

AND I also found a staple style that I can actually do effectively…drum roll…bantu knots! They create these really soft spiral curls that I adore (and they last!). Will do a video for you guys, soon.

As you can see, I’m in a wonderful place in my natural hair journey but getting there required a lot of product testing (some super popular products just didn’t work for me), style practice (twist-outs ultimately got veto-ed for bantu knots) and sometimes, emotional breakdowns (I’d be lying if I didn’t say I considered buying a relaxer and calling it a day…atleast twice).

Here are the twist-outs that never came out right. Tips, appreciated!

But now I’m excited about growing my hair out—with my trusty Castor, Jojoba and Carrot oil—and trying a million styles this upcoming Summer. Stay tuned because I’ll be giving you the tea on everythaaang.

In the meantime, here are the products that I’ve pretty much fallen in love with and would LOVE to see under my tree this Christmas:

1. Miss Jessie’s Quick Curls

By far, the springiest, bounciest curls I could ever dream of. I love you, Miss Jessie’s.

2. Moroccan Oil

Is this oil made of gold? holy water? nectar from the Gods? It is THAT amazing and I need it to survive.

3. Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Cream

Exactly the kind of loving my strands need after a long week. Made of shea butter and natural oils, it leaves my hair manageable and strong.

4. Kinky-Curly Moisturizing Shampoo

Knot Today is the only detangler a woman will ever need. Period. End of story.

5. Curl-Formers

A cute and curly look with no heat (and little effort)? Sign me up!

6. Ouidad Detangler Comb

Glamazons, finally, a comb that can get through curls and kinks without destroying them for good. LOVE!

7. Carol’s Daughter Chocolat

Now that it’s been a year, I may just may play with straightening my hair for a different look. Carol’s Daughter Chocolat Smoothing collection offers thermal protection from heat while smoothing hair for a sleek, straight finish.

8. Satin Bonnet

You didn’t think I was going to do all that work taking care of my hair to damage it overnight, did you? A Satin Bonnet keeps my hair from drying out and helps maintain my style longer. Can’t go to bed without it!

9. Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Mousse

I’m not a fan of mousse usually but this is soft, alcohol-free and anti-frizz. For The Win!

10. Kinky-Curly Curling Custard

Love this for strengthening my strands while defining and elongating my curls. I use Kinky-Curly before styling (bantu knots) and the shine, hold and definition is unparalleled. My fave, hands down.

What’s on your hair holiday wishlist, Glamazons?

Kisses,

Glamazon Jessica
