GLAM SCOOP: Lady Gaga for Barneys NY Holiday Campaign, Erykah Badu Leads Natural Hair Parade, Excerpt from Tyra Banks’ Modelland & More

Happy Monday My Lovely Glamazons!

How was everyone’s weekend? Glamazing I hope!

Mine was too fast as usual but I was able to squeeze in tons of fun with family, friends, and new acquaintances (Love meeting new people!).

Now that we’re all back to work, time to catch up on the latest beauty and fashion scoop, here we go!

Lady Gaga and Barneys NY Partner Up for Holiday Campaign

Ok this is pretty epic! Barneys NY is partnering up with Lady Gaga for a holiday campaign that will turn the entire 5th floor into a “Gaga Workshop.” The shop will open mid-November through January 2! Get excited!!

Even better, the Madison Avenue windows will be dedicated to Gaga (hopefully with genius illustrations like above). I know I’m not the only Glamazon who can’t wait for this!

Erykah Badu to Lead Isis Brantley’s Natural Hair Parade

Everytime I tell a person that I’m  natural they are shocked and they can’t believe I don’t have a relaxer (see my hair here; I’m the Glamazon with the fedora). Sidenote: I’m not the only Glamazon with natural tresses, peep Glamazon Jessica‘s hair and Glamazon Margo and Andrea are natural too!). Anyway the idea of an event where several women with hair just like me can come together is pretty awesome.

Hair care expert Isis Brantley is making that a reality by throwing a “Natural Hair Parade and Fesitval” on September 3 in Dallas, Texas. Her close friend and neo-soul songtress Erykah Badu will be the speaker, sponsor and leader of the parade. Who else could possibly be better anyway?!

The celebration is to honor natural hair, African-American economic power, and Brantley’s 31 years in the biz. Nice!

Conan O’Brien’s Fragrance Spoof

The hilarious and witty talk show host Conan O’Brien is joining in on the celebrity fragrance launch trend in his own special way. His new scent “Midnight Potato” not only has a unique name but the commercial is funny too! LOL!

Conan is known for poking fun at the latest trends and current events going on in world and I can admit this one could be in the top 5.

What do you think of the commercial? Do you think he really should release a fragrance? What would it smell like?

Excerpt from Tyra Banks New Book Modelland

As we previously reported, Tyra Banks, the America’s Next Top Model mogul and former model, is releasing a book named Modelland.

With a name like that, I’m sure we’ll be in store for the behind-the-scenes scoop of the tough fashion business and how their world is sometimes far from glamorous. Barnes & Noble released an excerpt of the book below:

“There was one rule and one rule only: a girl must be walking in order to be chosen.

Other than that, there was no prearranged runway on which the girls could walk, so everyone created invisible ones wherever they were standing. Violence was not encouraged nor was it condemned, and some girls’ parents insisted on adding martial arts training to their walking lessons in preparation for the big day. T-DOD Square was an every- man- for- himself or, more precisely, an every- girl- for- herself event.

Scores of girls marched down their own stretches of the square, paused, posed for the cameras (real and imaginary), and then turned around. Trains of walking girls intersected with others. One area behind Tookie was so crammed with street vendors, it bottlenecked into a slow, shuffling line. Some walkers had only enough space to take a few steps before they had to stop and turn. Tookie’s heart went out to a young girl in a ruffled pink dress who seemed way below the unofficial thirteen- year-old age requirement. She marched in place as if she were on a drill team.

Riiiip. A girl stepped on the train of a walker a few feet from Tookie and tore the fabric right off the dress. Both girls fell forward into a heap. The walkers behind them stepped over their bodies and continued.”

Sounds so juicy! Tyra has been in the game for a long time so I know this book will be glamazing. Can’t wait to read more!

What do you think of excerpt from Modelland? Will you purchase it?

Man Repeller and DANNIJO Jewelry Collab

Leandra Medine, founder of The Man Repeller is collaborating with designers Danielle and Jodie Snyder for a limited-edition jewelry collection called MR. DANNIJO. The collection was inspired by Medine’s advocating of fashion’s blend of the masculine and the feminine. Very clever.

The pieces range from cuffs, rings, and necklaces and range from $98-$318. Check out the full collection here. Congrats Man Repeller! (Love that blog).

Until Tomorrow…

Toodles Luvs,

Glamazon Krystal
