GLAM SCOOP: Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry On Hold, Emma Watson for Lancome Video, L’Oreal Photoshop Scandal + More
Happy Sunday! I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend as much as I enjoyed this week!
I had a blast at Tuesday’s Haute Strut Speed Networking Event held in NYC. Did any of you Glamazons make it out to that? One of my fellow Glamazons won the hautest shoe is the room contest (Kudos to Glamazon Kamille :-D)! We’re painting the town red this weekend too—in a hot pair of heels, of course! (Is there any other way to do it?)
Anyway enough about me, its time for today’s Glam Scoop! Let’s get to the latest fashion and beauty news.
Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry On Hold Following The Singer’s Passing
In addition to singing, Amy Winehouse designed collections for Fred Perry in which she was very hands on, churning out retro-inspired looks that we’re sure she would’ve rocked herself.
Since she told Harper’s Bazaar she designed collections up until Fall 2012, we’re left wondering what will happen to those lines. Will Fred Perry release them? The answer is still up in the air.
Fred Perry told WWD the collection is on hold until they get the green light from Amy’s family. I totally commend them for respecting her family instead of capitalizing off of their tragedy. And it’s great to see Amy live on through her design work and music (there’s talk of an unfinished album she was recording when she passed). RIP.
Donna Karan’s Fall 2011 Ad Is Inspired by the Power Woman
Donna Karan’s new ad campaign for Fall 2011 is all about the sophisticated power player and we love it!
Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana does the independent working women justice in Donna’s chic structured separates. Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the campaign follows the working woman from the lobby to the conference room. LOVE!
Glamazons, what do you think of the inspiration behind Donna Karan’s new Fall 2011 Campaign? Do you like Isabeli Fontana as the “working woman”?
Emma Watson for Lancome Sneek Peek
Harry Potter’s best friend onscreen has grown into a charming woman, and did we mention she’s GORG? Emma Watson has been working with Lancome as the new face of their fragrance “Tresor Midnight Rose.” Above is a sneak peek video of the ad campaign.
Shot by Mario Testino, the ad features her preparing for a date with co-star Cryil Descours. Sexy!
I’m loving her lipstick color in the ad, but what do you think Glamazons? Are you feeling the campaign?
L’Oreal Photoshopping Scandal
Okay, we all know that everything is photoshopped when it comes to images in print, but sometimes brands take it way too far! L’Oreal’s brands Lancome and Maybelline have come under fire and were forced to remove the ads above featuring Julia Roberts and Christy Turlington from the UK for too much airbrushing.
The ads had to be removed because they don’t meet Britains Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The ASA argued that the ads don’t match with the before and after shots and that can be misleading to the people. (Isn’t that every beauty ad though?).
Do you think photoshopping has gone too far? Is it right for the ASA to step in?
American Apparel Partnered With eBay
One of Glamazon Jessica’s fave haunts, American Apparel will be sold on eBay starting this September. The merger will hopefully boost American Apparel‘s Internet sales and bring a lower age demographic to eBay. The AA team is hoping the collaboration brings in millions and for their sake I hope so since they have to pay a commission to eBay for all sales, and don’t have the best financial history.
Do you think this partnership is a good idea? Will you buy American Apparel clothing off of eBay?
Rachel Zoe’s Son Gets His First Louis Vuitton Bag
If only I had this when I was growing up! Fashion stylist Rachel Zoe‘s son Skyler Morrison, whose closet we showed you this week, received a Louis Vuitton monogrammed gift. He definitely has a better wardrobe than most of us and is only 4 months old.
Zoe tweeted a picture of the bag and posted:
“@rzrachelzoe Rachel Zoe
Sending a big, stylish thank you to @LouisVuitton_US for Skyler’s insane gift on his 4 month birthday! :)
