Remembering Amy Winehouse: Her Beauty Legacy

Saturday the world lost one of its most beautiful and unique voices in music when Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home at the age of 27. We are deeply saddened by news of her untimely passing, and even moreso by the struggle with addiction she battled with for most of her short life.

Amy Winehouse debuted in 2003 with the release of her jazz-influenced album Frank and quickly rose to fame. Immediately, the world took notice. Amy was an extraordinary talent whose single “Rehab” reached a level of success and popularity in the pop culture stratosphere that most artists can only dream of. What we remembered in addition to the infectious beat and sassy lyrics, was that rich, raspy voice interlaced with soul and deep-seated pain. It touched all of her hearts.

Amy Winehouse was as known for her soulful voice as her signature beauty look: thick winged eyeliner, red lipstick, a beehive bouffant. Her look inspired numerous celebrities like  Selena GomezLady Gaga, Adriana Lima and Karl Lagerfield. Although her she only lived 27 years, her music and beauty statements were timeless. She will truly be missed.

Below is a tribute to Amy Winehouse’s beauty and music.

BEAUTY

1. Tattoos

Amy Winehouse loved to show off her tattoos. Most of her ensembles revealed the pin up girl portrait and wings tattoo. Just like her eyeliner and hair the tattoos became a part of her image.

2. Winged Eyeliner

The winged eyeliner started off very light and subtle but as she grew into her image it became thicker and noticeable. It was definitely a look pleaser that grew on everyone, and now we can’t get enough of it. A few celebrities below have taken Winehouse’s winged look and made it their own, these looks show that Winehouse was truly influential.

3. Vibrant Lipstick

Winehouse’s lipstick was always a vibrant color, whether it was red or pink. She knew how to command the cameras attention with her looks.

4. Beehive

We could see Amy’s hair from miles away. The beehive bouffant she wore sometimes as high as 6 inches was so daring. She wore it well and influenced looks like Snooki’s from Jersey Shore derived from it.

Amy even made a mark on the fashion design world. From Chanel runway shows to Vogue Paris, stars and models all dressed with her influence in mind.
