GLAM OR SHAM?: Lady Gaga in Mugler at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards
Honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards, it’s only right Lady Gaga wear something theatrical, bold and well, weird as is her signature. She didn’t go super quirky with an egg or bubbles, but instead chose a high-fashion gown by Mugler.
She paired the black plunging minidress with a dramatic train and sheer sleeves with her gravity-defying heel-less platforms she so expertly stormed the catwalk in for the Mugler Fall 2011 runway show.
A blue bob wig, dark brows and red dagger nails topped off her look. Does this remind anyone else of her Vogue cover (including the bobbed wig which is so very Anna meets Gaga)? In both settings, Gaga is edgy and dark but strangely subdued and overly fashion-conscious. Hmm…
Of course, at such a highly-publicized event, wearing Mugler makes the most sense as her former stylist, Nicola Formichetti is the Creative Director and she’s the, err, Musical Director (?)/Muse. I just kind of wanted something more iconic and more old school Gaga.
What do you guys think?
PS + Random: How amazing is her song “Marry The Night?” This would totally be the perfect “night” wedding dress to rock in the video! ::sings:: Love is the new denim and black…
