Does Wearing Makeup Boost Your Confidence?

There’s something about having a totally beat face that takes my confidence up a notch! I enjoy glamming up my look with foundation, blush, shadow, bronzer lips stick, gloss, mascara and the works, and I get a thrill out of mimicking a look from the runway or copycatting a celebrity Glamazon’s makeup and making it my own. But, as product obsessed as I am, I don’t wear makeup every day and even when I’m bare-faced, I’m still pretty over-the-top in the confidence department! (Yes, I love myself, but shouldn’t everyone!?)

There are some cosmetic companies that have conducted studies whose results claim that women’s social interaction, self esteem and overall well being are improved after using beauty products.

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, and it truly varies with every individual. While there are Glamazons who wouldn’t go a day without applying just about every item in their makeup bag to their face, there are others who would rather not.

One of my good girlfriends feels less attractive when wearing makeup. On the rare occasions that I see her with a fully made-up face, she describes herself as “clownish” or “overly done.” She’s a very pretty girl without makeup, and the most she consistently wears is eyeliner and lip gloss. Her take on beauty is less-is-more, and she’s happy with that.

There are different strokes for different folks. I don’t see anything wrong with wearing makeup boost confidence, but I do find it disturbing if it’s the primary source of a person’s happiness and self-esteem.

Glamazons, what’s your take on things? Does wearing makeup boost your confidence? Do you feel like you can’t function without a beat face?

Ciao Bellas,
Glamazon Margo
